From CBS sportsline:
Tate injures knee in OF collision: Padres OF prospects Donavan Tate and Everett Williams were injured Tuesday as they collided in the outfield during a game for Class A Fort Wayne. Padres director of player development Randy Smith wrote in an email to MLB.com that both players were "banged up a bit but there was no structural damage." Tate is likely headed to the DL with a sore knee, while Williams could miss 3-5 games with a sore right knee. "Both guys were playing really well," Smith wrote. "Unfortunate, but lucky it was not worse." (Updated 04/12/2011)

Williams is out for the season. Tate is expected (hopefully) to return around June 1.

Hard to believe that Williams won the glass-man battle in a collision with Tate.

Williams tore his ACL in the collison, required season-ending surgery. Just an unfortunate situation for the both of them. Tate should be able to still log 200 plus at bats.

We're snake bitten with Tate. I hope he eventually lives up to his hype. Damn, the Padres paid a healthy bonus to get nothing but injuries.

He's still not all that far off in his development. Provided he does well the rest of the season, I think he'll be in Lake Elsinore next year. He's still only 20.

That's what I keep holding onto, "he's still only 20." I keep thinking of players like Rocco Baldelli who we're world class super star athletes in HS and couldn't stay healthy once they started playing pro baseball schedules.
