Sorry, I don't find either one of them hot but I've read stuff Republicans have written calling them that. Doesn't matter, neither one of them are electable. BTW, Christie's approval rating has dropped from 51 percent last October to 44 percent now. LePage in Maine is about the same while Scott's in Florida is sitting at 38 percent. All 3 of them have overreached like crazy on environmental concerns. It's completely ridiculous in LePage's case because he was elected with 38 percent in a 5-way race. So while his rating is higher his election numbers, he certainly did not have a mandate. =Bob Sure, Bob. That is what I would say as well if I had to stand on a stool to look Rhea Perlman in the eyes. Short trolls don't work on me Pooh. I grew up in a community that had very few tall people - the tallest center we ever had on our B-Ball team while I went to HS there (through 11th grade) was 6-2. given that you're not much taller than I am it's likely you were intimidated by those Montana cowboys but it's a problem I never had. But BTW, aren't you the one who is always attacking people for avoiding the subject? Clearly, at 11:14 this morning you'd already hit the 19th hole or got buzzed at your fundamentalist church. What's up, Pooh, did you get another sermon on how all liberals are bound for Hell? =Bob

Hukabee? I don't understand your negative comment about him. Very smart, down-to-earth, affable, with positions that are sensible and well within the range of average Americans. Those who are beyond that range, since you were about to ask it, would be people such as Dennis Kucinich and, perhaps, Pat Buchanan. Oh, yes, Huckabee has valuable experience as a state governor. Again, your evaluation of the man seems flawed. I will agree that I don't see any one standout for the GOP. Romney would be a good POTUS, but you are right that the Mass. health plan is a problem. On the other hand, ObamaCare ought to be a VERY big problem for Barack, yet he seems to be considered a strong favorite to win reelection. AzWm There's no right answer here William. Just my opinion. I have only one absolute when judging the candidates and that is even the mere mention, however tangential, however obscure, of Da' Birf Sertificut makes you unelectable. "Mike Huckabee, the former governor of Arkansas and a possible Republican presidential candidate in 2012, said on Monday that he would “love to know more” about where President Obama was born and claimed — falsely — that Mr. Obama was raised in Kenya.
On Tuesday, a spokesman for Mr. Huckabee said that the former governor had “simply misspoke.”When you then have your "spokesman" come out and do damage control it makes you a tool. At least the other kooks are honest kooks. Plus, he's another member of the the "couldn't even beat McCain " club and the whole "I'm a musician just like that other Arkansas governor" act is lame. I am in agreement that the birthers are nut jobs and not because I'm a Democrat. The nonsense that goes on within that group is rather pathetic and totally detracts from the Republican effort to recapture the White House and as a political scientist, I find it quite stupid, but then again, the Teabaggers, for the most part, really don't understand how government works. Despite the fact that some on here consider me to be a flaming liberal, I'm not. But beyond that I love political analysis and I really don't see the Republicans as having much in the way of viable Presidential candidates and I really do think the Teabagers are taking your party down the path of ruin. And believe it or not, I like our 2-party system. It's just that the Republicans, with the "southern strategy", has marginalized themselves to the point that they are in danger of becoming a regional party and I really don't like the notion of multiple parties, such as one finds in Canada. =Bob

The thrill is gone with this guy. The novelty of having a black president (the only reason he was elected in the first place) has worn off. He'll be judged on peoples pocket books just like every other president. Unless there's some sort of economic miracle in the offing, he's toast. Gas prices are up, unemployment is way up from the last election cycle and inflation is starting to kick in with a vengeance. I disagree that there are no strong Republicans. Ryan can beat him, Daniels can beat him. Watch the upcoming budget battle. The Democrats are using an outdated playbook. The terms of the debate have already been changed. It is no longer a matter of whether or not the budget should be cut and the size of government reduced, it's only a matter of what, how much and how fast. When's the last time you heard a Democrat talking about the need for more stimulus?

I really like Paul Ryan. He is a sharp guy, and I think he has the brains and charisma to be the guy for the GOP. His budget plan, which had some great ideas on medicare privatization and removal of inheritance and capital gain taxes, among other things, seemed to make alot of sense to me. Although, his plan for medicare may result in Americans paying more out of pocket per year as seniors than many may find reasonable, and that is a legitimate argument.
He would be my pick in 2012, and I think he could really perform well in a debate setting, he is a solid communicator, and intelligent as hell.
I worry that some may find him a little too green though.

We already have a two class society; tax payers and tax consumers. Zombie Vampire Tick Leech Army Growth Unabated! An astonishing 43.4 percent of Americans now pay zero or negative federal income taxes. She is living on a $9,000.00 a year pension, has $8,500.00 a year in Social Security, and since she and her departed husband were frugal and saved their money she has $10,000.00 a year in dividends and $1,500.00 in interest that she earned last year. Interest used to be more, but interest on CDs is so poor these days. She owes no tax. Is she a Zombie Vampire Tick Leech?

It's really very simple; HALF of the country pays for the other half. I guess that makes me evil.

Oh please Pooh - I've already explained to you why height trolls don't work. Do I really have to explain it to you over and over? How senile are you? Oh please Pooh - that's just about the most pathetic response I've ever seen from you. Soft spot? Don't think so, old man, given that in your dotage you aren't any taller than I am. I do notice that you offer no response to my question as to whether you ever lettered in any sport. Sorry, but you didn't find my "soft spot"; I found yours. Apparently you were some sort of geek in HS, picked on by the jocks, and to this day you are unwilling to admit the simple fact that you were incapable of playing any sport. There's nothing wrong with admitting you were a geek stuck in a state that didn't appreciate geeks but I think at your advanced age you really should get over it. =Bob

Here is a scenario, afan. Widow, age 74, she and her husband bought a house in the mid 1960's and it is paid off. Does she not live in the same community as me? Does she not drive on the same Interstate? She in fact costs society more than me because she more than likely avails herself of more of the "free" services society offers. So the DIRECT answer to your stupid f****** question is YES. Everyone should pay some level of income tax if they have an income. EVERYONE. Is that clear enough? Pay taxes or forfeit your right to vote. Now answer my question; When do YOU start giving a $#!+ about future generations? Where does it stop? How many people do YOU think should be able to derive their source of income from the hard work of others? How much of MY money am I supposed to donate to the ZVTL Army. 10%? 50% 90% when will one of you liberal Nanny Staters have the courage to stand up and say exactly how much of a slave the rest of us are supposed to be? Are we only 50% slave? 60%? 90% ? I stand corrected, but I will bet that AFAN and I would both agree 100% that a flat tax would be agreeable to us both.
