Prolly end up in the new digs the 49ers are gonna build. I think Bay Area is the most likely as well - the office is up there, it's more centralized, the Pac already has a bowl tie-in in San diego, etc.

For those that think it is a good idea. This is why we will allways be considered as second rate. The PAC ten laughs at your local University and as subpar without any real facts being used and you think is just fine to let them have thier Football championship in your city. Great idea. Let them have the damn game in LA or Denver. To those of you who still support the Holiday Bowl are you kidding what are you thinking about. The SDSU fans supported that game for years and made it the sucess it is and some bussiness man form a PAC ten school comes in and takes the game away form you and you think this is another good idea!!! If the city had any pride they would tell them to go $@#% themselves.
Go Aztecs step on the neck of the PAC ten!!!

It will sell well if USC or UCLA are in and maybe the Zonies and Bay Area schools. but what if it's Washington vs. Colorado? Cal/Utah Poinsettia Bowl last year drew 32,665. I have been to every PB and all but 3 HBs, as have many Aztec fans. I know I won't go anywhere near a Pac-12 championship game at the Q. The other day Darrin Smith was talking about this on 1090 (which is the only media outlet where I have heard this). He said this is a MWC city, but a Pac-10 town, and there are a ton of Pac-10 alumni in town. Of course, there are; SD is the largest city on the west coast without a Pac-10 team. Anyway, I don't believe it. They may have better TV ratings than we do, but that has more do with the fact that their FB games are on real networks that are available everywhere. San Diegans will support SD teams ... as long as they win. FWIW, I went to the Stanford men's basketball game at USD last season. There were no more than 1,500 total there; most were USD fans. I also believe in defending our turf. It has always struck me as odd that the SEC has it's championship game in Atlanta, the home of Georgia Tech of the ACC.

The inherent problems with championship games are:
1. Teams don't know they will play (sometimes) until really late in the process.
2. Teams that are in the game will also be in a Bowl Game. If a fan has to choose between the two, a Bowl Game will get the nod.

Damn, should we have told the NFL not to bother holding the Super Bowl here because the Chargers weren't playing in it? A real candidate for stupid post of the year. =Bob

Who cares, bring on the Pac 12 Championship game. The city could probably use the influx of outside money that weekend. What we should concern ourselves with is somehow getting the Holiday Bowl back.

Bob you just don't get do you!! You don't tell someone that won't associate with you because they think they are better than you, that they can throw a party at your nice Home and not invite you to the Party. To compare the Super Bowl and a pac ten championship is like apples to oranges. Frist the Chargers did have a chance to play in the Super Bowl. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think any San Diego team would be allowed to play in the pac tne championship. If we keep letting the pac ten think they own the San Diego market then they will never respect SDSU. Good luck in getting the Holiday Bowl back.

Sorry, but I do get it - you're a bloody, bleeding blowhole (to quote John Lennon). Having the Smack 10 Championship here would not be admitting San Diego is a Smack 10 town, it would be, rather, taking advantage of the Smack 10 in order to get a ton of bucks from their idiot fans. But all that aside, you're assessment of "second rate" is ridiculous. It's based upon your personal definition of what makes a city "second rate". I may be mistaken, but I'm willing to bet you voted in favor of moving the Marines out of Miramar and turning into an "international airport" despite the fact that we have virtually no international flights, without noticing that Lindbergh's limitations have nothing at all to do with the number, or lack thereof, of international flights. In short, you engage in knee-jerk reactions that have nothing at all to do with reality and everything to do with emotion. =Bob

Good luck in getting the Holiday Bowl back. Aren't we going to still host the Holiday through 2014 (or 13 .. not sure of the contract)? And, considering the Holiday bowl hosted Big 12 and Pac 10 teams ... why do you seem to be ok with hosting that .. but not a lesser Pac -10 championship game? What if qualcom hosted the BCS championship game ... but because SDSU is not in a BCS conference, they could not participate .. would that be fine?

Pokinsky I guess you didn't read my 1st post. I'm completely against the current make up of the Holiday Bowl. As to your question about the BCS championship, if I'm not mistaken there is a process that a non BCS conference can play in the championship. So again this is apples to oranges. If san Diego is this desperate for a small amount of money then we will allways be 2nd rate to the pac ten.

Bob you have to stup to using someone else words to express yourself. You and I are about the same age, your fustrated post makes you sound very young (which you are not). You make an assumption that I could even have voted for the airport in Miramar. Wrong!! I'm also somewhat confussed about your example, but I'm sure it makes sence in your mind. Second rate is only being used to show you how the pac ten thinks of San Diego, not me. But I tell you what Bob just keep play thier game and watch SDSU sports sink into Big West. No football like LBSU, University of Pacific, CSUFullerton, CSUN. The pac ten would love to see SDSU slip to these other University level. The best way they can do that is to show cass thier best in SDSU home town. Great idea!!!

Hey, why not host the PAC- 12 Championship Game?
You can take signs for the TV saying this is the Home for San Diego State Aztecs, and promote the
Mountain West also during the game. The Pac Fudgers will love it! Nyuck,Nyuck,Nyuck!!!

We're a destination and vacation city that will (and should) host every event we can. The haters are making it sound like the football players are going to take our women and leave the town on fire when they are done. I think most people hate UCLA and USC and don't want them here simply because of the SD vs LA beef or an inferiority complex ... would we give a damn if it was Washington and Stanford or if it was the WAC championship with Fresno VS BYU?
The Pac 12 is just another customer that is paying to use our facilities the weekend after the monster truck rally and the weekend before the argentina vs chivas football match.
