According to 1090, the Pac 12 has started to look for a neutral site to hold their championship game, and they are currently looking into having the championship game possibly at Qualcomm Stadium. If this is true, what a slap to San Diego State. Nothing like inviting all the local high school stars to come to SDSU's own stadium to watch the Pac 12 championship game...unfreekin believable.

We should schedule a game for that weekend. Let 'em play it at Univ. of Phoenix Stadium.

And furthermore, they won't draw, unless USC or UCLA plays, and only because it's a short drive. Stay in your own cities.

God forbid if the Pac 12 schools were to come into San Diego County and swoop away with maybe 3 future Heisman Trophy running backs from local high schools. The only thing that could hurt worse, would be if maybe, say, Texas grabbed one of their own. Oops. Ummm.. Anyone have a plan B?

Sorry, but I don't see the problem. The City runs a rather large deficit every year on the stadium and could use the bucks. Plus it brings more travelers into town to feed the tourist plantation businesses. And John, Binky runs the bowls, not the Stadium Advisory Committee: www.sandiego.gov/qualcomm/pdf/minutes/100211.pdfIf you're going to flap you jaws, it might not hurt to have at least some knowledge of what you write. Sheesh. I swear to God there are a bunch of drama queens on here who take everything as some sort of slight toward SDSU instead of understanding they are just trying to keep the stadium from running large deficits. =Bob

I don't care. Binky will do anything he can to make it happen. Which is what, John? Jeez, offer an argument with some substance instead of just whining about Binky, who, after all, simply follows the direction of the bowl committee. But hey, you "don't care", which means you "don't know". =Bob

My guess is that they'd rotate that puppy among the various area pro-stadiums (Mile High, Phoenix, Seattle, San Diego, Candlestick)

At least they wouldn't be able to claim that SDSU lacks adequate facilities when it's time to not invite us to the party again.

Good. In a year or two when SDSU takes over the site we will be the Pac-10's landlord.

Whether it the supposed playoff above or the MWC falling apart, much ado about nothing.

Who cares if they want to play the game here, as long as the city makes some nice coin off the game. More revenue for the city is always good in my book.

I hope they do play it here and it draws 15,000 fans. Let's put to rest the myth that the PAC-10 owns San Diego. It will be like their baketball championship this year - 3,000.

I think it would be a huge draw. Maybe sold out. Especially the first few years since the concept is new to the PAC 10 and teams like Colorado and Utah if they were to be in the game would travel remarkably well because it would be huge for them. Just my .02.
I agree that in this case, the city would benefit nicely, which is good news. Since we can't get a damn super bowl, anything helps.

I have no problem with the Pac whatever playing a championship game in San Diego. Tell them to bring their money and party up and hire a band.

Just my .02. I agree that in this case, the city would benefit nicely, which is good news. Since we can't get a damn super bowl, anything helps. I think it would be a huge draw IF the right teams participated. For example, it appears the divisional breakdown will north-south. What if the South division ends up becoming USC and the Five Dwarfs (Arizona, ASU, Colorado, UCLA and Utah) so that the Trojans end up playing in the game half the time? How motivated are their fans going to be to continue to come out to see it? And how motivated are the fans from the winner of the North division going to be to travel to San Diego if the game ends up being a blowout loss to the Trojans most years? Yeah, the scenario I paint won't be happening in the short term since USC is going to be on NCAA probation. However, USC won't be down for very long. In fact, I'll predict that Pat Haden will fire Lane Kiffin three years from now, install HIS guy and six years from now USC will be a perennial Top 10 team once again.
