I'm guessing this was at Rohr Park? That would be Chula Vista Golf course - The Bonita Golf course is just a little further east. Those are the oldest golf courses in the south bay. Unless they consider Salt Creek to be Bonita - which is a lot nicer course.

Sure it's Bonita Golf course which as you said is just down the flood plain from Chula vista muni as dude plays there all the time. Is Salt Creek the links style course? IF so, played it a few times and was not impressed for 50 bucks or whatever it was - there are half a dozen courses far nicer in san diego for that price. Bonita is cheap and designed well (plus is a great walking course) and once they started rolling the greens not too bad. Chula is fine, but one of the slowest courses in america.

Salt Creet and Eastlake are both a little pricey for what you get. I enjoy playing Salt Creek, but EastLake is a bore to me. Bonita and CV Muni are both a step down in quality, but still fun tracks. CV Muni was a pretty good deal when I was spending my winters in KOA in my Airstream. I had a CV address so I could pay a monthly fee of $50 buck and $2 a round. If you were first out in the morning it was not slow. It was also easy to walk.

Yea, cv and bonita are typical hacker/muni courses, but they are both great walking courses and cheap (bonita at least up to last year would let you go around again if you started around twilight time - only got 36 in a few times, but 27+ a number of times). I lived in SD city, so the torrey card is the best deal in town. I'd much rather play either singing hills course than eastlake or salt creek
