SOS! Padres in a great weather city open up on the road in a crappy March weather city! They sure have some brains working in MLB!

As long as they get good consistent pitching they'll be competitive.

That line up is better than last years at every position with the exception of 1st base. If our pitching can endure the long season then we should be in contention come August

The Padres main strength last year was defense. This year's team has a better defense than last year's overall. Better at SS, 2B, CF, and LF, but worse at 1B. That is a big reason our pitchers did so well last year and will carry them higher this year too.
Last year I placed a bet on the Padres over 72.5 wins. This year I passed on the Padres over 75 wins. Last year I was sure they were wrong. This year I might have listened to the naysayers too much.
Go Padres.

You really think the Padres are going to be worse than the Diamondbacks?
I am hoping our defense and our pitching can carry us.

Nice heads up play by Headley taking advantage of sloppy fielding..
Pads up 5-3 in the 11th Bell on to close it out.
It was a thing of beauty to watch all those cards' fans, supposedly the best fans in baseball, streaming for the exits after that 2nd run was scored. The game isnt even over yet.

Pads come from behind in the 9th, Bell gets the save and the pads take game #1 from the cards. Long way to go but great way to start the season.

Sweet. It is probably a good bet. I just couldn't do it. Did my posting about my bet last year inspire you ? Padres win today via their strengths. Each was on display. A good starting pitcher, defense, agressive base running, and a very good bull pen.
