If Donald Trump is really interested in the Republican nomination he is going about it the wrong way. He must think the party is a bunch of kooks. Conservatives don't care about his birth certificate - we care about the fact that he is killing our economy. If he thinks the republican party is controlled by "kooks," then he is indeed correct. These days there's a big difference between a true conservative and a republican. You, like The Donald, are wrong. When the voting starts a loud mouth kook only gets one vote. So although he may be a significant part of the squawk he will fade into background noise when the couting starts.

That's the face of your party right now and Trump recognizes that. The nut jobs on both sides vote in the primaries so don't assume he'll fade away if he does in fact run. =Bob

I don't know where you get your 51% but I am sure that is not the percentage that obsesses on that above other issues.

Conservatives don't care about his birth certificate - we care about the fact that he is killing our economy. Actually, Dubya was President when the economy tanked. The economy is now improving and if present statistics are valid, in a year we will be soaring along. Shoot, if that happens, Obama will look like a Savior of America. Easy landslide victory over any money grubbing Republican who wishes to be the sacrificial lamb in 2012. Vota Obama Presidente Por Vida! Aye, que bueno!

The GOP has been trying to throw a monkey wrench into the gears of the economy since Obama was elected. If they succeed in screwing up the recovery, by making sure the debt ceiling is not passed for instance, they can then blame their handiwork on Obama. Their version of Pravda, Fox News and the right wing shrill radio, will hammer the message home to the faithful. I never underestimate the gullibility of conservatives.

Trump may be a lot of things, but clueless ain't one of 'em. He sees what the party's become (sadly) and for better or worse is making his play.

Thanks for the most interesting quote of the day from an interesting site. "...... And the children of the United States, (that is, born of at least one United States Citizen -- comment mine) THAT MAY BE BORN BEYOND THE SEA, OR OUT OF THE LIMITS OF THE UNITED STATES SHALL BE CONSIDERED AS NATURAL BORN CITIZENS" (CAPS mine)
Ergo, as President Obama's mother was a citizen of the United States at the time of his birth then the whole "birther" argument becomes moot.

If he thinks the republican party is controlled by "kooks," then he is indeed correct. These days there's a big difference between a true conservative and a republican. I am beginning to think that fifty percent of Republicans are seriously psychologically disturbed. The state of Hawall did away with the old Birth Certificates that included a lot of personal information that was not necessary to certify that a person was born in the state and substituted a Certificate of Live Birth. The old birth certificates of thousands of people were destroyed after that conversion. It was not just Obama's original birth certificate. The fact that Obama's mother did not pass on to him a copy of his birth certificate before she died is moot also, because there is no law that required her to do so. My mother never passed me her copy. I knew she had it when I was ten years old. Over the years it was lost or misplaced. When I had to get a birth certificate to enlist in the Navy, I had to write to the office of public records in the State of Illinois, Cook County (Chicago) to get a certified copy. They sent me what they had and it was good enough for the Navy and I was able to serve my country right out of high school.
