It appears the Democratic Klansman from West Virginia might be down for the count. I wonder if Oboma will acknowledge him in death, since he was a hood & robe wearing Cross burner.

Byrd's Klan activities were mentioned toward the end of the NYT obit. When Strom Thurman died, the Times mentioned the racial angle in its headline ("Strom Thurman, foe of integration, has died" or something pretty close).

Byrd was also remembered for filibustering the Civil Rights Bill. It's amazing he was able to survive in the political world, a testament to his campaigning prowess.

Ya. I thought for sure because Obama said his Presidency would not be Political, that he could resist pandering to the Klan. But I guess when you are from Chicago, a vote is a vote. I am enjoying the whole circus show that is Obama mania. Lots of Clowns, Klansmen, and Bloyogovich. Priceless.
