"an enticing prospect". I say, no way. I never want to have the bad taste in my mouth toward my alma mater, that I now have towards USC. Money or W's can not replace the high level of respect I will always desire for my team, the Aztecs.

Nope, never, nada. Win straight up with honesty and integrity. Cheaters never prosper. Look at SMU - and that's a school rabid about its football support!

Craft got SDSU put on probation and we still sucked. Yeah but he was an incompetent cheater. To paraphrase Tim Brando this morning, John Calipari is an excellent cheater. He eventually gets caught but the penalties are a mere slap on the wrist in comparison to the number of wins gained. No, I'm not advocating SDSU run a Caliparian operation. However, I think that anybody who doesn't straddle the line between compliance with and violation of the rules isn't going to win very often, at least in football. (You don't need many players in basketball so if you're Duke, UNC, Kansas or the like you should be able to be squeeky clean and yet still win.)

Interesting food for thought. Me? I would rather not see SDSU cheat. U$C can cheat and get away with it. The sanctions and getting caught will not do any permanent damage. U$C fans are already complaining that the penalties are excessive and they are being joined by many in the media. When this blows over U$C will still be playing in bowls, and they will still have all the $$ they made while Reggie and his parents were living the high life. Turn that around a little and do you think for even one minute that the SDSU football program would survive a scandal like that? Not a prayer. The scholarship penalty would destroy the program at SDSU, not to mention the backlash and furor. Cheat like Reggie and U$C and we are history. The Fred Noonan School of Navigation.

Oldie Out Hmmm......think it has anything to do with being born into a family that can afford U$C? Maybe a head start on the road of hard knocks? Seen one U$C grad, seen 'em all. They all have the same silver spoon and paid for degree ;D The Fred Noonan School of Navigation.

We can root for the Aztecs or not as we please. What we can't change is our diploma that's from SDSU. I'd rather not see that tarnished.

Cheating is wrong. It sucks for the student athletes who are doing it the right way.
However, as bad as it is to say, it seems like the ends almost justify the means in USC's case. They made millions and millions for the school in their latest 9 year run. They got their new basketball arena built and drew thousands of high level donors. 2 years seems like a parking ticket for a program that banked tens of millions of dollars for their program every year for almost a decade!

EVERY winning program in AMERICA has to come close to CHEATING from time to time! Nathan Oestreich used to say there is a difference between tax avoidance and tax evasion. One will put you in Jail and the other is good business.

All I want is an even playing field. Sadly, Steve, we'll NEVER get an EVEN playing field because alumni MONEY is involved! I hear you John. In some way we must overcome.
