Aztec Basketball..2009 Exciting..2011 Off The Hook

As I sit here and think about this upcoming season, I am soooo excited.

Will we win 26 and go to the NCAA's? I don't know, but possibly.

I think we will win 24-26 and go to the NCAA's.

But what really fires me up is the future. We are talking big things about this upcoming squad AND it is so young.

2010-2011-2012 are going to be off the hook. Just look what we have for those years right now.......and recruiting is just taking off for us.

This program with Steve Fisher is on a big time roll. How much of a big time?

The sky is the limit over the next 3-10 years. I never thought I would ever see the day that Aztec basketball would have a chance to be a National Player.

We are there and I think it will happen in the next 3 years.

How many can Fisher bring in next year. We have Leaf commited now and who else will join up?

If nobody leaves for the pros or quits that is on schollie....we could give a schollie for Kelvin Davis (if he is still on schollie this year), and one for Mehdi Cheriet. So it looks like 2.

If Leaf keeps his commitment, then it looks like we use one...probably for a big guy.

If Malcom decides to go to Europe or enter the NBA draft next seaons it would open up one more.

First I heard he was out, then I heard he may be in.
With school starting in a week shouldn't it be known by now.

I don't know anything about Eric Lawton that is 100% for sure, but I can say this...

I have about 6 very, very good sources with basketball. What I consider my #1----#2------and #4 sources say they are almost positive that he passed everything he needed to get in. Same on Malcom Thomas.

My #3--#5---#6 sources say they think he is in, but haven't heard much yet.

I think he's in.

The info I listed above was from about 6 days ago from 2 of the guys.........and yesterday from one of the guys.

I think the Men's team will be real fun this year. We could have the 3 most athletic big men in the conference: White, Leonard , and Thomas. We will have a true big man for the first time in Fishers reign: Carlwell .
Three exciting new guards: Shelley , Tapely , Lawton .


But I think the women again will have a better conference record than the men. They lose no one and add Jessika Bradley who was rated the #45 player in the country out of high school and Allison Duffy will be back. She was a MWC honorable mention as a freshman. Those two will give us the depth that we lacked last year on the front line. Paris Johnson and Jessika Bradley will be twin towers when they play together. They have the ability to be #1 and #2 in blocked shots in the MWC. The Aztec led the MWC in blocked shots last year with Paris way in front of everyone. This year we will have more than the next 3 teams combined. That will give our guards confidence to overplay defense. They will know their players will not be able to drive against the monster blockers inside. It will be a great year for the women.
