Big talk throughout the sports world today. He's obviously pithced an amazing 4 games, but it's only been 4 games.
Hear some say he's the best pitcher in baseball, pure and simple. Others say, he's only had 4 good games, needs more time to prove he's an All Star.

Aztec Heresy: Overblown. It's not about recognition and status for SDSU having produced a great pitcher. Leave him alone, let him break into the bigs. An all star invite would just be so the Nationals can sell tickets. He has a great future ahead of him let him grow into it. Don't overload this kid to the point where when he hits that temporary wall that every major leaguer hits all the hype will foul up his chances of getting quickly past it. If he's still performing next year at this pace well hell yes. The Fred Noonan School of Navigation.

Here's the thing though, Charlie Manuel has to have a Washington National on his National League roster by rule. If he wants to have a shot at home field advantage in the World Series (should he make it) because of Selig's stupid All-Star game rule, then his motives might not be on who necessarily deserves it but who can best help the NL win the game. If Dunn and Zimmerman get passed up, then it might fall on Strasburg.

Strasburg is probably the best pitcher in the majors. If he gets voted in, I have not problem with it.

He is playing at an All-Star level but I don't know after only four starts. If Strasburg makes it, Latos better be in as well. Two young studs!

He only has 4 starts because the Nats wanted to keep him in the minors for their benefit, not because he wasn't ready.
His performance is All-Star, regardless of how short its been.
MLB would be stupid not to continue to $cash$ in on the hype.

Joe Buck and Tim McCarver said he not only should be on the All-Star team, but it would be an injustice to American Baseball Fans if he wasn't!

Strasburg is probably the best picture in the majors. If he gets voted in, I have not problem with it. Pitchers aren't voted, they are selected by the manager of the team. Actually, 5SP & 3RP are voted on by the players. The Manager then selects the rest. I vote no and here is my logic. While I think he is worthy and would be a great addition, is he MORE deserving that Mat Latos, Jon Garland or Luke Gregorson of the team with the best record in the NL? I doubt any of those 3 pitchers, who are BIG reason for the Padres success get selected to the team and if Strassburg was selected over them (and may other deserving candidates that would be one thing) it would be wrong. As far as the National's rep, it will likely be Matt Capps - who lead the NL in saves.

This is just like the Dick Vital and Digger Phelps talk about how this team or that team HAS to be in the big dance, but they don't realize that there are not enough spots for them all. Which pitcher that has made 18-20 starts, has 8-10 wins and a sub 3.00 ERA should stay home so SS can be at the game instead?

just remember these 3 things " for the money. for the glory, for the money". its a business....... now that he's in the bigs they will milk him as much as they can, both the Nationals and MLB.
