The Padres really need Tony Gwynn leading off and playing well. He is doing both right now.
Last night he really worked the pitcher. He had full counts in each of his first two at bats and worked a walk in his second at bat and stole two bases with no outs, to ignite the Padres only runs.
Over the last 22 games Gwynn has hit:
.365 BA .441 OBP .577 SLG 1.018 OPS
With Gwynn doing that at the top of the lineup the Padres are really a different team.

He is playing well, can't wait for Cabrera to come back to get some more speed and I wouldn't mind Cabrera Gwynn up at the top with Eck batting 8th not sure though they would do that, either way good to see the team running more the last 2 games

Cabrera hits with more power than Gwynn. I would like a lineup with Gwynn leading off and Cabrera batting 2nd. Both of those players walk more than Eck. Eck would be more valuable batting latter where we may need a hit instead of another base runner. I still think Adrian should be batting 4th. We need to maximize the runners on base for Adrian. Batting the pitcher 3 spots in front of Adrian doesn't do that.
