Want do you mean no one will be upset? I will!!! But, we are not there yet so it is too early be concerned about Mizzou. Our first order of business is to take down Nicholls State! As Al Davis says to his Raydars...., JUST WIN BABY! That is what we need to do every time we go out to play. Maybe that should be our motto this season..... JUST WIN BABY! We have been bad enough over the last decade without following Al Davis' lead. Whatever we do, let us not go the way of Al and the Raiders, they are a total joke. We do not need that franchise as an example. Please exorcise all references to the Raiders and my beloved Aztecs in the same sentence and/or breath. The Fred Noonan School of Navigation. Fred, don't get me wrong I am not a fan of the Raydars either. And as you said Al Davis is a joke. I was only putting a little humor into this. But, I have to admit that the line, "Just Win Baby", originated in the 60's when the Raiders did have excellent teams. I see no reason why we shouldn't use it. We need something to get our program going.

Nobody - not even UNLV - has been as much of an impediment to the MWC gaining AQ status. Period. Objectively, through the 11+ year history of the MWC, of course. But, no one outside our little world cares, what they see (the ones who bothered to look) is the 3rd criteria in the the 4 year evaluation period. And there, New Mexico and SDSU are dual anchors - if say SDSU finishes 50th this year it doesn't matter if New Mexico is still losing and punching coaches.

Maybe this is a moot point, but when we do become successfull and attractive to "somebody," I think we should always be addressed as SDSU instead of San Diego State.
City names attached to universities are unpopular with big time sports. Yes, there are exceptions like Auburn, Syracuse, Louisville and Miami, but there're too few to mention. We all dislike CSU-San Diego so that's certainly off the radar, but SDSU can be a nationally recognized acronym. We wouldn't be mistaken for South Dakota State any more than Ohio State is to Oregon State.

I think it is good to have both, SDSU is a good acronym and even the old tron-like academic logo was pretty spiffy in how those come together; but, San Diego State also has a built in application pool is in how many folks not is San Diego, beach LA communities and South Beach wouldn't want to attend school at such a place?

Although the official name of the California State University campus in Fresno is CSU Fresno, the official name of your alma mater and mine is not CSU San Diego. Rather, it is San Diego State University. The same is true for the CSU campuses in San Jose and San Francisco. As to whether it should be San Diego State or SDSU on our uniforms, I tend to agree and therefore think that rather than having San Diego State wrotten across the chest of our football jerseys, it should be SDSU. Nobody is going to mistake that for South Dakota State University if only because that school never plays on television and anyone seeing the team in person and who doesn't know who is playing is too stupid to find his way into the stadium to begin with.

I think San Diego State works better as a recruiting tool, rather than just SDSU. The reason is we have the most beautiful city in the USA, probably in the world. People KNOW this inside and outside of San Diego. So, reminding them of the city is a great benefit.

I have a scarlet sweatshirt that I wore ( for the last time) at one football game last year with SDSU on the front in large letters. A guy came up to me and said, "Oh, another fan of South Dakota State University, goooo, Jackrabbits!" Just shows you even people in San Diego are not tuned in to SDSU, the colors, or anything in that regard. You can bet there are more in the Midwest, East, Southeast, and West who don't know either. The only way they will know for sure is to have San Diego State on the shirts, sweats, and caps. I am proud of the name San Diego State University, aren't you? It just happens to printed like that on my diploma, and I will not ignore it, shirk it, or put it down for any reason! I really don't care what happens to be in as far as spelling, or abbreviations go on team names. It means absolutely zilch to me. When San Diego State starts to make a name for itself by winning on a regular basis people will be able to recognize our name faster, and easier with it spelled out. *Just a note for you on the CSU- San Diego. When the school first considered going from San Diego State College to California State University San Diego. It was brought up before many students, and we all disliked CSU San Diego. We felt we had always been known as San Diego State, and wanted to keep that identity with University replacing College in the name. I have two diplomas. One with the CSU San Diego name, and one which I requested be reprinted with San Diego State University which is the first year it could be printed with University in the name. That was 1972. ;D

Yeah, I guess when we talk basketball we better remind the Rebels they should be listed in the conference standings as University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Forget UNLV. By the way, I didn't have my CSU, San Diego diploma reprinted. I consider it unique.

Hah, the dude was from out of town, and was serious when he said it. Ok, so you kept your CSU Diploma like it is. ( I have mine, but the San Diego State diploma is matted & framed). Let me ask you, when someone asks you where you went to school do you say... "Oh, I went to California State University, San Diego!", wiseguy? What, where the H ... is that? they are probably saying under their breath. All I'm saying is that SDSU is not recognized as easily as say UCLA, or even UNLV. They have always been known as that, and it is easy to recognize. Since SDSU is not it can be confused with the other school.

Mine says San Diego State College. And, I'm proud of it. Although I have some real estate in South Dakota, please don't confuse me with a South Dakota State fan. The least of our problems is having San Diego State across our football jerseys. Fix the wins first. The Fred Noonan School of Navigation.
