One of my favorite basketball players ever has died. While not the greatest player in the world, he was very unique and it was hard NOT to like him. Great personality and a heart of gold. sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=5305868

I loved when he would fling up 3 point shots at 7-7.

He tried all kinds of things to raise money for charity in The Sudan. Must have had a great heart!

Jeez...possibly from a reaction to kidney medication? I can't imagine the the thought of 11 days without being able to eat due to the soreness around his mouth

I loved when he would fling up 3 point shots at 7-7. Man...I almost forgot about his threes! What was his percentage out there?....could'nt have been good. It looked like the dexterity in his hands and fingers were compromised. Very likable guy.

I loved when he would fling up 3 point shots at 7-7. What about when he got on the ice to shoot a puck, boy was that awkward.

former Bullet. They also had Mugsy Bogues on that team. They were a strange pair to watch. Especially if you had a few in ya.

Didn't he get basically abducted when he went home for humanitarian aid? Seemed like he lived quite the tragic life.

Manute coined the phrase "my bad" according to Bill Plaschke. The story goes that Bol didn't have complete command of the English language when he entered the NBA, and when he would make a mistake he would say "my bad" instead of "my fault". It caught on from there. Plaschke said linguists have confirmed this.

I loved his sense of humor. Once you heard Manute speak, you knew he wasn't from here and certainly not from ghetto.
The players used to really razz him with their inner city lingo and Manute played along with it perfectly.
