Let me offer a different point of view, if I may. Sensible people don't pay attention to to presidential polics now at this point in the election cycle? I think all of us here, regardless of political view, have an idea of how may be in the running for the GOP side of the ticket. Does that mean that none of us are sensible? While I will agree that none of the conservatives are sensible when it come to politics, I don't think the are not sensible in all things. I see them posting quite sensible posts on the sports board. Frankly, I think Will insulted each and everyone one of us that pays attention to current events. As to the price of gas. Yes, it sure went up in a hurry. Anyone that pays attention know that the price of oil in fungible. While we may not get a lot of oil from Libya, Europe does, and that is under threat. So if there is a threat anywhere to oil suppys it will be reflected everywhere. We all know this. It will all get sorted out in the long run. Short term is a bitch as it is so unpredictable. Who thought that a young vegatable seller who killed himself to protest his government several weeks ago would cause the Arab world to go up in flames as well? No one. I, like you, have great concern that the next government is the Arab world will be theocracys. I am going to continue this later as my client just came in early. A commodity can be fungible, but saying the "price of oil is fungible" shows you don't quite get the concept of fungibles. That aside, who would have thought that the recent events would unfold as they have? Not me for sure. I thought that Tunisia and Egypt were fairly stable. Libya is understandable at least in terms of how volatile that country is and has been. Are you close enough to =Bob to look in and see if he is OK? That was unartfully phrased. It is the commodity that is fungible, not the price. I did not review and edit. I did not have time, my client is more important than a post. You did catch my drift, I'm sure. You have to understand I have to work so that I can not only fund my future pension, but your current one. If we ever meet you definitely need to share your pitcher of Margaritas with me. ;D

Well, when you serve your first wife divorce papers after she came out of surgery for cancer and then cheated on your second wife while impeaching Clinton for infidelity, they should hate him. =Bob Newt disputes the details on his first divorce, but still his personal life is hardly what we would like in a person who would lead our country. He has a lot of baggage, but set his personal example aside, he has the intellect and belief system about economics and politics that would make him a great President. Too bad he has this glaring flaw and I will look elsewhere for a candidate. Maybe Christie! Crap; he's a bomb thrower, not a leader. =Bob

I'm not a fan of Gingrich but I'd rather have him than any of the true believers. There are some truly scary people out there on the right. People like Sen. James Inhofe, of Oklahoma, who once said, "If you have the opportunity to get a few liberals out of office, do it. You will be doing the Lord’s work, and He will richly bless you for it."
Yoda out...

The political landscape can change 180 degrees in a flash, so it's too early to be picking winners and losers for 2012. As for Newt, no, he probably could not win. But, boy, I would love to see him in a debate with the overrated Obama. Newt would slice and dice the Obamacon without mercy. If it were a boxing match, the thing would be declared a TKO in the 2nd round. AzWm I think Obama could hold his own against Newt. Barry is very intelligent, even if his brain is messed up with liberal indoctrination. Newt has no concept of ethics and that is the reason why "Born Again Christians" (fundamentalists) can not accept him and will not vote for him in the primaries.

There are two Newts IMO; the brilliant political observer / scientist and the dreadful political leader. Some are better at thinking - others leading. He is one of the former, not the latter. We don't get many with both qualities. Ike Skelton comes to mind (notwithstanding his lukewarm vote for cap and trade).

Stu, I can understand why you like the man, but his district voted him out of office. It seems that he was too liberal.

Funny that I just called you out on trolling for exactly the response you attempt to offer in this thread. I really do worry about you Pooh; your trolls have become so predictable that it makes me think you lost your ability to be creative. =Bob
