Great to get respect from national writers (especially Dicky -V) and it's also great to see the expectations for the conference with 4 teams listed in the top 40 (I don't think we had 1 last year?)

Shoot, based on the early results, SDSU could realistically start the season as a RANKED team. Unbelieveable. Of course they also need to live up to the expectations. Also nice to see that Dickie V has 4 MWC in the TOP 35 and only 1 Pac 10 team listed in the top 40 - take the Utah :-)

Most of the voters aren't doing research, they'll just put the 25-30 usual teams and/or consult other sources - if next time the various sports writers on websites and major newspapers have SDSU up there, SDSU will assuredly get a ton of votes and could very well be ranked. |

Agree, let us also not forget that the rankings are a nice feather in the cap and will be a nice reinforcement of how far the program has come and where it is going, but NCAA seedings were all over the place in relation to top 25s, RPIs, etc. |

This is the year of the Aztecs! When you have ESPN and all of
their experts stating that Aztecs are a TOP 25 TEAM, the Aztecs
will be ranked in the TOP 25 when next season rolls around!
Tell me, when was the last time SDSU received TOP 25 PUB during
the offseason? The expectations continue to rise for the Aztecs
and the MWC. And here's another question for the doubters.
When was the last time the Aztecs were ranked above BYU, New
Mexico and UNLV? Next season will determine the future of San Diego State basketball. Should the Aztecs perform up to their capabilities and win, I expect the Aztecs to make a deep run in
the NCAA's next season!

I gave a reason why I though it was realistic they they could have a preseason ranking - i.e. that several basketball 'analyst' have already ranked them in their top 25. Here is another one, they finished 30th at the end of the season, bring just about everyone of signifcance back, and added some good players. Your turn. |

Depending on the ooc schedule this team could spend the entire year, or at least the majority of it, ranked in the top 25. I don't think we have too many cupcakes on the ooc schedule next year so it will be imperative that we don't drop a game like we did to Pacific last year. We have a few tough road games (Arizona, Long Beach St, Cal,  ) and have a few very good teams coming to Viejas (Wichita St, St Marys, ). I predict the highest ranking of the year will be 16-18. |
