If Utah and Colorado join the PAC for the 2012 season Utah's accomplishments count toward the MWC in the AQ formulas. If it is 2011 they don't. That makes a big difference. I am sure the BCS would love to remove Utah before they have to crunch the numbers. Colorado and Nebraska, by Big XII rules, are forced to stay until 2012, but the Big XII will surely waive that to insure the MWC stays in its place. That allows the PAC-10 to go from 10 to 12 without having to have the messy 11 for a season. Without the AQ issue I am sure 2012 would be the date of the move.

doesnt matter when they leave it could be today or it could be tomorrow. the nay sayers who will deny us will just point out that Utah is no longer a member of the conference, thereby negating everything the conference has accomplished in the past 5 years.

Western CFB has just taken a big step back with utah going to the pac. The MWC with the utes and Boise State were ready to get AQ, now there is only 1 BCS conference in the west. Just what the pac & BC$ wanted!

Utahs credits and everything is going over to the Pac 10 Not necessarily...in another thread the BCS formula is based on conference membership as of Dec 4, 2011. So if Utah stays 2 years - and I don't think it will - then we would get their credits. This is why it was important to get BSU to commit before July 1 so they would be in the MWC for the 2011 season.

Utahs going to the Pac 10 for 2011 Yes. The PAC-10 agrees to deal with a messy 11 team conference to insure the MWC doesn't have the benefit of Utah's success in the AQ formulas. But the MWC can still work out the numbers themselves and play the same game by adding a team at the right time. Too bad we might be forced to add a team that isn't in the best long term interest of the conference just to get some points toward AQ.
