I would assume BYU and Utah will play each other every year (rotating home and home) just like SDSU and USD do.

Didn't Utah recruit well in the SD market? That should change too. Yeah it'll change all right. Now they'll recruit the SD market exceptionally well. When was the last time SDSU got a kid who was also offered by Utah? I honestly couldn't answer that but I'll bet it's been at least five years. So if it helps Utah, it's going to help them versus the likes of UCLA, not us. OTOH, we went head to head against WSU for four SoCal kids this year and regardless of how miserable Wazzu is, they got every one. Since WSU will be traveling to SoCal only infrequently beginning in 2011, I think James is correct that this could very well help us against them since at least some SoCal kids are going to be disinclined to go to that out of the way school if it isn't going to be making an annual trip to SoCal.

I think this is likely a good thing for SDSU. I think this will give all of the northern schools less access to SoCal and that will help us in recruiting. Why would that be the case? Please explain.

You mean in basketall right? We will never play USD in football. We'd drop football before doing that. I would assume BYU and Utah will play each other every year (rotating home and home) just like SDSU and USD do.

Look at it this way Borg. BYU just dramatically increased their fan base for the Holy War. Lots rooting against you for years will now be kick ass Coug fans for the big game.

How could they turn down the PAC 12? They will getting $17-20M per school for their new TV contract. The MWC gets $1.5M. You wonder why SDSU can't beat the PAC 10. And why they keep stealing our coaches and assistant coaches.

Utah deserves it. Good for them, but a bummer for the MWC.

time for the MWC commissioner to earn his money , hopefully he has talked with some credible options so we can expand to 10 or 12 teams Why? He already has. He effectively replaced Utah with BSU. Pretty much a draw when it comes to football. +1 =Bob

And why they keep stealing our coaches and assistant coaches. Please offer evidence that they'll get that sort of revenue increase based upon adding Colorado and Utah. Sorry, but that's the sort of numbers tossed around for the Big 12 and I seriously doubt a new contract will give them that much. =Bob

Yeah it'll change all right. Now they'll recruit the SD market exceptionally well. Great! Now Utah can come into SD county telling recruits they can play in the PAC 10-12. To hell with that problem. It was and is the challenge of Aztec coaches to get So Cal recruits to "stay home" despite the attractions of the PAC. Arizona,UCLA, Cal, now Utah. All the same challenge. The Aztecs will not turn the corner until they can lure about a half dozen PAC quality kids to become Aztecs instead.

I hate to see Utah go. The MWC with Boise on board (and Utah still there) would have been one of the stronger conferences in D1. Without Utah we're still in the same position we've been in - not quite AQ because of Eastern bias.
This is a big loss. Now I hope that Utah falls flat on their faces like the Arizona schools have (they've only rarely lived up to Pac-10 standards).

While I wish Utah the best because that is how I was raised, logic tells me they won't be winning much in the PAC. They will have more $$$$ though.
UA/ASU are happy now with Utah and WSU they won't be as close the last place.

Good for Utah getting the invite. It's time for the Aztecs to step up, shake off the "Sleeping Giant" tag, and start earning our spot in the conference. I found this quote in my email this morning. Sorry, but I couldn't resist making a few edits : "I am more afraid of an army of one hundred sheep...(Current Aztec roster) led by a lion(Hoke & Co.) than an army of one hundred lions... (been awhile since we've had "Lion" type talent...) led by a sheep...(Insert your favorite fired Aztec Football Head Coach)"
