I think this is likely a good thing for SDSU. I think this will give all of the northern schools less access to SoCal and that will help us in recruiting.

About time. Now we can move on. Of course, there is always the chance Utah might decline. Hahahahahahahaha Its a nice day dream. Too bad they won't do it.

Perhaps a drive by "Couging" during the presser? I'll be watching for your appearance. ;D

The northern Pac-10 schools will likely be in their own division meaning they will play everyone in their division once, plus two teams from the southern division every year. It means, for example, that Washington St. would play USC/UCLA not every year, but perhaps once every three years - alternating home and away. So a recruit from SoCal that commits to Wash St. may never play in front of his family in SoCal.

(I remember a couple years ago after Harline caught the winning touchdown in Utah to beat the Utes...at Utah's Poinsettia Bowl game...some Coug rented an airplane with a banner trailing behind "Harline's Still Open" and buzzed Utah's bowl game! Hah!) Lotta fun history between these two schools. Can't help but think that this is the beginning of the end of that rivalry. I'm bummed.

Utah leaving the MWC gives credibility to the MWC particularly if Utah can win the northern division. IF the PAC-12 breaks into two divisions with Utah matched with Washington, WSU, Oregon, OSU and Colorado, it's possible Utah wins that division in year one.

time for the MWC commissioner to earn his money , hopefully he has talked with some credible options so we can expand to 10 or 12 teams

The next 4-5 years will be critical to the future of Aztec football. If things don't improve we can expect to be stuck in a crappy watered down WAC division. Hopefully, BYU is stuck in the MWC for the next 4-5 years, but you can bet they will be looking to jump come the next round of negotations. Particularly if the MWC has not secured a automatic BCS bid by then.
Beat Utah this year and hope they do well in the Pac 12 thereafter and it definitely would look good on the MWC. Also, how about a better TV package? C'mon Man!

It is going to be a weird Pac 12, thats for sure. The Northern schools are going to lose SoCal recruits, for sure. The draw for the rest of the Pac was a game at either USC or UCLA in football every year. Basketball had two games in the LA area, and now I cant see more the one. Didn't Utah recruit well in the SD market? That should change too.

Good for Utah getting the invite. It's time for the Aztecs to step up, shake off the "Sleeping Giant" tag, and start earning our spot in the conference.

The MWC loses some tv ratings by Utah leaving but adds some with Boise. If you want more tv $$$$$ the MWC needs more tv sets watching their games. Houston and Fresno are pretty obvious but might as well add Nevada or SMU to go to 12 teams. Utah leaving, however, makes it a tougher sell now for Houston to cough up a million bucks.

I want Utah to finish in the bottom 3rd of the conference this season. And then finish dead last in the Pac whatever next year. They are dead to me. DEAD!

Bill Moos Wazzu AD just said if it had been 16 teams the old pac8 would have been 1 division and the 6 big12 would have joined the Az. schools in the other division.

The "Salt Lake" market with BYU and Utah...are mutually exclusive. Oddly enough, they "both" bring the Salt Lake market equally in TV revenues and eyeballs watching. You get the scads of LDS faithful watching the BYU games (which currently is more than not)...however, you get the BYU haters and non-LDS people watching Utah. A little crossover for both. So...no matter which one you choose...as far as the "Salt Lake" market is concerned...they both do well. The edge goes to BYU though as BYU's range is much greater and extends to Idaho and Southern Utah etc...Utah is mostly the Wasatch Range.

Didn't Utah recruit well in the SD market? That should change too. Yeah it'll change all right. Now they'll recruit the SD market exceptionally well. Great! Now Utah can come into SD county telling recruits they can play in the PAC 10-12.
