Is on fire! 3-4 tonight and batting .290 on the season. I know Bill and I have been fans of his for a while and now it is time for the people who doubted him to jump on board.

His non-hit was real close to being another single. A high hopper that he almost beat out. I remember watching Russell Martin in 2007 wishing we could have a catcher like that. RM 2007: .293 .374 .469 .843 21 SB, throw out 33% of runners and only 24 years old. Russell Martin really went against the trend of improving with age to a point. He has got worse every year. RM 2010: .262 .359 .360 .719 not a running threat any more. Throw out 30% of runners and 27 years old. NH 2010: .284 .366 .448 .814 throw out 35% of runners and 26 years old. YT 2010: .277 .341 .366 .708 throw out 46% of runners. We suddenly have better catchers than the Dodgers. Who would have believed that. I though RM would be a force for years and he is now just an average catcher. Overwork?

Jed Hoyer on 1090 said the two positions that the Padres defiantly wouldn't look to upgrade through trades this season are 1B and Catcher. He said the catching situation is solid.

For now yes it is, we still need a catcher of the future though We still need a xxxx for the future. You can fill in the xxxx with any position. Catcher is not a position that Jed spends a lot of time worrying about. Nick 26 and a good all around catcher.

He is a below average catcher at everything except throwing baserunners out so far this year, the team has a ERA .8 better when Yorvit catches and thats even though Hundley catches Latos

That is why CERA is not widely accepted as anything pertinent.

What is his relationship to the Cubbies Pitcher Randy Hundley from the late sixties? People have asked Nick if he is related to the Padres (1974)catcher Randy Hundley and he just said he wasn't. Todd Hundley (Dodgers) was Randy's son. There have been 3 Hundley's in MLB. All 3 have been catchers.
