I doubt it. Frankly, though I am sympathetic to Mona Charon's basic points, I'm not so sure he should make this speech. I'm a great believer in what John Wayne said in one of his movies; "Never apologize. It's a sign of weakness." There is something to be said for realizing that a change of policy is called for without prostrating yourself publicly. But even if Obama does not take this tone when he speaks tomorrow, I do hope he reads this piece and takes its advice to heart. In fact, one of Obama's big mistakes was not gathering around him more people with practical experience in the real world. And that includes experience that teaches us how difficult it is to solve national problems. www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2010/06/15/what_obama_should_say_tuesday_night_105957.htmlAzWm

Ironic that Obama's "solution" is cap and trade. Something that BP has been lobbying for since the Clinton administration. Cap and Trade will make BP very happy. They have positioned themselves to make a bundle under that scenario.
Note: The last time a BP CEO met the President in the White House was August 4, 1997. BP CEO John Browne and Enron's Ken Lay met with Clinton and Gore to push them to agree to the Kyoto Protocol.

I was first shocked and then amused at Obama and his ridiculous speech. Then I became distracted when I realized that he had stopped the annoying habit of waving his head from side to side and looking up like some relative of "ET".
I settled in on thinking how slim a chance that a speech that spent about a third of the time cheering for "Cap and Tax" had of being well received. Just what good will a new layer of taxation to further wreck our economy do even in the long run?
Now I wonder what he will do with this "slush fund" he is trying to extort from BP? Maybe BP would be better off figuring a way to write off or value assets still in the ground at zero and going belly up through bankruptcy and leave "I'm in charge Obama" holding the bag. This guy is so destructive to our economy that we will be decades recovering from this four years.
