Why are you even on Medicare? As a libertarian who hates it, shouldn't you be rejecting it in favor of some private system? Oh wait, I forgot, virtually no private health insurance company would cover you - well maybe if you were to pay 50 percent of your income they might. =Bob

The subject is Medicaid. Sober up, and come back.

See, the problem is this - you make a fool of yourself when you attempt to defend another fool. Let him respond instead of offering stupid responses. =Bob

I didn't. I asked where in his post he said anything about being on Medicare. The subject was Medicaid, not Medicare, and whether he's on Medicare or not is entirely beside the point. But that's your MO, divert from the subject by attacking the poster. "Great minds discuss ideas. Average minds discuss events. Small minds discuss people." - Eleanor Roosevelt -If anyone is stupid around here, it is you. Or drunk, maybe.

My participation in Medicare is not voluntary. Money is taken from my income to help fund Medicare whether I like it or not. You are asking me, after the Feds have already taken my money, to voluntarily refuse to take advantage of the system. Let's say that a stick-up man pulls a gun and forces me to empty my wallet. He runs down the block and disappears around the corner. Before he is gone from sight he throws a few of the bills he has stolen on the ground. Should I pick up the bills and recover at least a portion of what was taken from me? By your reasoning, I should just let the money lie on the ground! One can argue the merits of Medicare (I do not think, on balance, that it's a good deal for Americans), but once taxpayer's money is taken to pay for the system, it is foolish to suggest that those opposed should refuse to participate. Were Medicare not mandatory, and were I to complain about it while voluntarily participating in the system, then you would have an argument. AzWm

AzWm Don't see why if you're fundamentally opposed to the concept. But let's be real here - the reason you're on Medicare and Medicaid is there's no way someone your age would be able to get private health insurance unless it was offered by your retirement association or some other group of which you are a member. =Bob
