I think adding Baylor is an excellent idea. Here are my reasons:
1. They have a very strong basketball program that went deep into the NCAA. Adding this program to the MWC gives us a stronger BBall conference. BBall is fun!
2. Their football program is on the rise. Yes, they have been a doormat in the Big 12, but they have had to play numerous perennial powers year after year. I see their program as similar to Stanford in the Pac-10 in terms of being a doormat for many years, but once they get all the pieces together, they can challenge for a conference title.
3. They add more exposure in the Dallas/Fort Worth market. Football is a religion out here, and University of Texas is its God. For those of you not familiar with the Texas market here is how it works. Even though TCU is and has been a dominate football program they get shafted by UT coverage. Baylor gets better coverage then TCU. Its similar to being in San Diego, but only being able to watch L.A. teams. Adding Baylor gives the MWC two programs to highlight and reach potential recruits in talent rich Texas.
4. Baylor is excellent in a number of other sports: Tennis, women's BBall (national champs), track & field, after Texas and Texas A&M nobody has won more Big 12 championships than Baylor.
5. Baylor's facilities are as good or better than anyone's in the Big 12. They have strong fan base support.
The other option in all this, is once the Big 12 gets raided and UT, Texas A&M, etc. all leave, then the remaining 5 teams (Baylor, the Kansas teams, Iowa and Missou) invite the MWC to merge and the MWC title disappears and we join a conference with a BCS bowl tie in.
