I think it is possible.
I wouldn't expect any of the big stars to come this way, but a SC backup or two?
Maybe.

I just checked out the article and given that they cannot transfer within the Pac 10, I think most players either will stick with 'SC or will transfer to WAC or MWC schools...so yes, I think SDSU could land a few players.

Somehow I doubt it. Those that are real good will have all kinds of options, those that were backups might just stay to get their moment in the sun.

I don't know if we will land any transfers, but this may help in future recruiting. Maybe a couple of guys that would normally choose SC over us will decide to come here. I have to wonder if Baxter would've ended up an Aztec if this announcement was prior to the recent signing day?

CJ Gable would be a nice fit for SDSU. We need a back and he was once highly touted coming in at USC. He would be the immediate starter. Per the OC Register: usc.freedomblogging.com/2010/06/11/if-he-can-start-uscs-gable-might-finish-elsewhere/41087/“The reason I would go to another school would be that I’m not playing,” said Gable, who came out of spring second on the depth chart behind fellow senior Allen Bradford. “That would be the only way. This is my last year. I’m not trying to sit around
“I don’t want to get (misled by another school). I want them to be straight up with me — no ‘recruiting answers.’ Give the me the real answer. Am I going to play or not?”
Gable said the decision “really comes down to the coaches” and that he has “good trust” with USC’s coaches.
He also said possibly missing out on a bowl game this season is “not a big deal.”
“It doesn’t matter. It’s one extra game,” Gable said. “They take one game? OK. We’re still going to kill everybody else.”

“It doesn’t matter. It’s one extra game,” Gable said. “They take one game? OK. We’re still going to kill everybody else.” That is the exact reason why SDSU will not get any notable players from USC, Bowl games don't matter to pro scouts. USC will still be on ABC every week for the world to see. What will help SDSU the most from Bushgate will be the loss of 30 scholarships over the next 3 years. This will force USC to be more choosy has to who they recruit and offer to leaving that much more of a gap with mid level recruits for Hoke to swoop in and lure them over.

First things first, go after their 2nd string olinemen if they're looking to xfer. Chances are their backups are better than our starters.
