Utah, BYU, TCU all looking to come out BCS winners...no one is concerned that SDSU could very well be left out in the cold.
other fans go ballistic, local politicians get involved...in San Diego, well we are just happy to arrive late or not at all.
i guess we will finally be able to schedule San Diego University in the future and perhaps Cal San Marcos...
1. We know BYU and TCU have been negotiating already with the Big12. 2. We know Utah has had some level of communication with the Pac10
what would we do if we were put in the same situation?

Level of fan support aside, SDSU's football program, (and football seems to be the primary program driver in all these discussions), brings little to nothing to any conference. I've said it before, and it pains me, but we are irrelevant. Regardless of what happens, I don't see SDSU leaving the MWC regardless of what changes occur. Where they gonna go?

^Co-sign the only other hope we have of getting an invite anywhere else is just so another conf. can gain a stronger foot hole with recruiting So.Cal also to get into our television market.
But on the bright side we have no idea what SDSU is doing behind the scenes.

on the bright side we have no idea what SDSU is doing behind the scenes. If Schemmel were still around, I know we would be doing nothing. If Bay were still around, I know we would be doing something and it would be really, really stupid. So on the bright side, since we now have an unknown quantity as athletic director, SDSU MIGHT actually be doing something positive. (Might be.)

I am not sure what SDSU can do right now except try to help hold the MWC together. The only thing SDSU has going for it is that it's in a major California Destination City. Hope that is enough. Now the pass 10+ years of Football ineptness could cost the school way more than just wins and losses. It could cost SDSU a spot in the final round of conference realignment.

Umm... we're a 3rd tier school in a city that has 2 pro teams. What political intervention did you want?
Its all up to Pres. Weber and Jimmy Sterk.

get the California legislature to say all State funded colleges in D1 must be in the Pac10, just like in Texas.

get the California legislature to say all State funded colleges in D1 must be in the Pac10, just like in Texas. Considering our track record, that would be a very Baylor-esque move...

get the California legislature to say all State funded colleges in D1 must be in the Pac10, just like in Texas. Well, let's see what the UC regents' website says: The University is governed by The Regents, which under Article IX, Section 9 of the California Constitution has "full powers of organization and governance" subject only to very specific areas of legislative control. The article states that "the university shall be entirely independent of all political and sectarian influence and kept free therefrom in the appointment of its Regents and in the administration of its affairs." Don't think they really give much of a rat's ass what the legislature has to say and I am certainly sure than the 6 Smack-10 schools not in California do not care at all. And although the governor appoints the majority of them, let's see what Wiki has to say: The vast majority of the Regents appointed by the Governor historically have consisted of lawyers, politicians and businessmen.[1] Over the past two decades, it has been common that UC Regents appointees have donated relatively large sums of money either directly to the Governor's election campaigns or indirectly to party election groups.Yup, the governor and legislature sure has them by the short and curlies. This ain't Texass, pal. Figure it out. =Bob

I do not agree that our fans don't care. We do have fewer fans to care--I would admit that. But that's our fault, not the fans fault. Get politicians involved? Like this isn't already balled up? So who do we call out to do battle for us? Donna Frye?? The Fred Noonan School of Navigation

Exactly ... the football and basketball programs are on the upswing, but it looks like football is controlling the changes (just ask Kansas basketball). All we can do is win and improve. If we end up in a crappy conference then we do is similar to what Butler basketball or Boise St football is doing in their "crappy conferences" and compete at the highest level, regardless of the conference you are in.

Excellent point. I was a much happier camper when State was winning games in the PCAA, then with the limited and arguably marginal success they've had since they left. This school has got to concern itself with its own success on the field, regardless of conference affiliation or "quality" of opposition. We're on the clock.

Not that I'm not concerned but, with all the rumors and scenarios what is there to do but sit and wait it out? Once it goes final, then I'll be happy or concerned, depending.

There is nothing to be done. Right now, I think the MWC is only in danger of losing Utah to fill the PAC-16 if Texas A&M doesn't come. Otherwise, with the Big 12 gone, who will poach from the MWC? Big-10, SEC, ACC?? The Big East football schools will be gone in one year, leaving the Big Four conferences with the MWC the first runner-up.

If Utah is leaving the conf. why is their president going out of his way to congratulate and welcome Boise today? Your comments are unsubstantiated and without credibility. Perhaps TCU is in play for leaving, but that is it unless something very unbelievable happens next week. But, BYU and Utah will not split up and the Pac 10 would never take BYU
