I'm betting that Ford survives, though perhaps barely. Further, I think that at least one of the two branches of FedMotors, GM or Chrysler, will either go into Chapter 7 (unlikely, now that they are on an IV drip of taxpayer money) or will simply limp along, like the USPS, with periodic federal bailouts. Especially precarious is Chrysler, which must now count on FIAT as a savior. But FIAT, though it is doing much better than just a few years ago, has never succeeded in this country. The other foreign manufacturers should survive. Now here is the opinion of an expert. www.forbes.com/2009/08/14/detroit-auto-bailout-gm-ford-fiat-opinions-contributors-paul-ingrassia.htmlAzWm

I happen to think that GM will be in good shape if the Chevy Volt can be delivered at even 40K if it can achieve the 230 mpg that we have seen advertised lately. People will buy a mid-size four door sedan at that price if it can deliver on the mileage and has nice other features.
