And for us to go to the northeast, and the south and then back to the northwest and down into the San Diego area, and to Hawaii, we are going to travel, and we are going to get a lot of exposure. I think that will open the doors to a lot of our recruiting." Has State changed its mind on playing BYU? Seems to me BYU is out selling to recruits possible games in SD, they are either delusional or the departure of Hoke has prompted some change.

They wanna play us here? Charge them $3 million (some of that ESPN money they're bragging about) for the right to play us in San Diego, if they want it so bad. Otherwise? Good riddance. Let 'em play the Tostitos. If our administration caves on this, heads should roll. It's not so much that they often beat us, it's that mission crap that always gets me. They claim the players don't work out during missions, but they come back more mature and wiser about life. We shouldn't have to compete against more emotionally mature players. It's an advantage, I don't care what they say.

Thank you for bringing this up. I have a good feeling that those BYU "fans" that show up to local games against SDSU are just local San Diegans who happen to be Mormon. A few may be BYU grads but I think most are just local Mormons. How long can you be a "fan" if BYU never plays in San Diego? Will they sooner or later feel more allegiance to their local community of San Diego and support SDSU? This is particularly relevant knowing Rocky long is Mormon and recruiting in the area.

They want their recruits to think they will play in San Diego since San Diego has some pretty good recruits. SDSU should NEVER play them again under any circumstances.

How is that ? Are they guaranteed access to The Poinsetta Bowl ? I had not heard that. The Poinsettia Bowl has a tie-in with the Mountain West and the WAC. With the WAC circling the drain, BYU has been signing agreements with WAC affiliated bowls to fill the WAC spot if the WAC doesn't have enough bowl eligible teams. They already have an agreement with the PBowl for 2011 or 2012 as well as another bowl. BYU basically mortally wounded the WAC with their affliation shenanigans, then proceeded to pick at the near dead carcus.

I sort of figure it is one of four things, or possibly a combination.
First, Jay Drew is just blowing this story out of his back side, knowing that his faithful readers will believe anything that he writes about the Cougars if there is a positive spin on his article;
Secondly, the BYU staff is exaggerating to their recruits the value of the one Poinsettia Bowl that they are contracted to play in, if they are bowl eligible that year;
Thirdly, they are negotiating with USD for games;
Finally, their coaching staff is plain lying to their recruits. Bearing false witness is not a sin if you are involved in BYU athletics.

I will never go to another Aztec sporting event and give up my season tickets for football for ever if we schedule BYU in football. I have been a season ticket holder since '92.

I doubt SDSU is scheduling BYU, they get to play USD in other sports and also have the Poinsettia Bowl tie in. Really no need for SDSU to schedule them when we can get one of the NW Pac-12 teams instead, BYU fans like to pretend their an attendance boost and that we need them more than they need us but a Pac-12 team would easily fill that spot.
Really it should be some cupcake (until Rocky puts us into BCS Bowl type contention) + NW Pac12 team at Home pretty much every season.
The only way we play them again (at least anytime soon) is via the Poinsettia Bowl, if they rejoin the MWC or if we both get invited into some other conference.

Playing BYU in the PB is not the same as scheduling the cheaters HB. That said, I hope BYU dose not get the tie-in to the PB.

BYU really wants the San Diego connection and I hope we give them the finger every year. My biggest concern with Rocky, and probably my only concern right now, is his relationship with Bronco Mendehall and BYU and the possibilty of scheduling future games. I don't ever want to play those cheaters again.
