What a great night it was at "The V". Great play by the Aztecs. We were unbeatable last night.
As we built the huge lead, I started to focus on other things. What I saw really opened my eyes to the future of Aztec Basketball.
-Yes, exciting dunk try by Jamaal Franklin but that wasn't the most exciting thing I saw from Jamaal.
He got a lot of playing time. He handles the ball pretty good. He plays under control in the system. He passes the ball well. He plays balls out ALL THE TIME. This guy is a player. He answered a few questions I had about him. This is going to be one hell of a player.
-We finally got to see (although only 6 minutes) the point guard Steve Fisher was so excited to sign. LaBradford Franklin looked very comfortable, he handles the ball well, and he can shoot it. Next years tandem at point with LaBradford and X Thames is going to be something else.
-Alec Williams...my gawd I hope he sticks around and how I wish he had red shirted this year....DAMN!!! We have seen him shoot the soft jumper from 20 feet a couple of times this year.....But last last he showed a couple of other things.
When the big fella wants to get to the hole, you can't keep him from it. To big and to powerful. I love this guy. And yes it was (sort of) garbage time, but Alec cleared 4 boards in a minimum amount of playing time. I sure hope Alec comes back next season, with a great attitude, AND that Coach Fisher forgives him for not saying yes to a red shirt year.
-A special shout out to Mehdi Cheriet. There are some doubters on this board about his talent. How can anyone who watched last nights game come to the conclusion that Mehdi Cheriet is not a player is beyond me.
Mehdi has some serious basketball skills and is not a one trick pony. Great game Mehdi. Keep yourself ready.
