Just like I posted last year in the other board, did anyone run either the full or half marathon? Or anyone have any good stories of being a spectator? I myself couldn't run this year due to an injury But congrats to all runners and wheelchair participants!

That's cool. I seen Chet one time running around mission bay earlier this year. Of course he had a some Aztec gear on which caught my attention. Congrats on running Chet!!!

I hope to give it a try next year when it falls right on my 55th birthday, 6/5/11. In the 80s and early 90s I ran a lot but never tried a marathon. When I would run the AFC half-marathon I would ask myself when I finished if I felt like running back to the start and the answer was always "no". I never wanted to try a run where I didn't think I could run the entire distance. I regret that now. Would have been a great experience while in the best shape of my life. Next year I hope to run part of it and then alternate running and walking until the end. Not exactly in prime running shape anymore.

If you want to train with a group (because it really helps motivation and is great to run with others) you should look into the San Diego Track club. They have a marathon training program which is coached by former Aztec great Paul Greer (I believe he still holds some records at sdsu) called the rockin n runnin training program. He is an awesome coach and great motivator (I have been in this program multiple years). It is never too late Poway, coach Greer will get you to the finish line!

I did the Rock N Roll marathon years ago. The course was breathtaking. There are parts of san diego most of us haven't seen because we're always driving but I remember the course taking us to rather remote parts of mission bay adjacent to sea world and the san diego river. They may have changed the course a bit but it's still san diego and they always have a lot of cool bands lining the route.

The course was changed this year and does not go around the crown point area. It now goes around the entire fiesta island. I've spoken to many marathoners who ran this year and they stated it got a little boring around the island due to no band around there. But they liked the new course and will do the rnr SD again.
