I know it's not nice to speak ill of the elderly (though I am close to qualifying myself), but honestly, Helen Thomas should have retired or been retired years ago. She basically makes no pretense of being objective. Having her as a member of the D.C. press corps makes no more sense than having Glenn Beck or Michael Savage among that group. (Actually, those two would ask more penetrating questions than Thomas does.)
Does anyone think that Thomas would be getting the pass she gets if she were a hard-core conservative. Oh, that's right! There are no conservatives to speak of among the White House press corps to begin with.

STOP THE PRESSES. MY REPORT WAS INCORRECT. SEEMS THAT SOMEONE HAS ONLY CALLED FOR THOMAS TO BE FIRED! I MISREAD THE FOX NEWS CRAWL. WE SHALL SEE WHETHER THOMAS SURVIVES THIS INCIDENT.
According to the Fox News below-the-picture craw, the old lady has been fired! A fitting end, I'd say. And, finally, someone who goes over the line in the matter of Israel has had to pay a price. It took a pretty naked exhibition of anti-Semitism to earn that fate, though.

She has just retired. About a week too late, I guess. No, that's wrong. About 20 years too late. The woman had zero credibility as an objective journalitst and should have been fired long ago.

Looks like some of tthe links in there have been changed. I wonder why no one is coming to Helen's defense. Surely there are other Lebonese decendents on here who hate Israel like Thomas did. |
