Chargers have a 3rd round pick for Cro which is on its way to turning into a 2nd round pick.
2009 Jets were # 1 in NFL for Total Defense and Passing Yards allowed and gave up 8 passing TD's all year. 2010 Jets have been torched for 24 passing TD's already and have the league's 24th ranked pass D.
Cro walks away as a FA at end of year and Jets will not be able to retain him based upon what they've committed to Revis already.
Jets went for broke this season and are not gonna even make it to AFC Championship Game.
2nd round pick is much needed for Bolts.

Based on Cro's effort ( or lack there of) the past two seasons with the bolts I predicted he would be exposed playing opposite from Revis and be released by the end of the season. I was wrong.
I think Cason did more than an adequate job (other than this last game) replacing what we saw from Cro the past 2 seasons.

So AJ can waste that one too? The one thing AJ Smith does well is draft players. How many Pro Bowlers and future Hall of Famers has AJ drafted over the years? Every draft in the last decade seems to have at least one future pro bowler. AJ occasionally falls short in managing his talent, but to his credit, he doesn't suffer any bad citizens on his teams and I respect him for that.

Every draft in the last decade seems to have at least one future pro bowler. Not the last few. It would seem that Buddy Nix was more responsible for that draft success than A.J. was. The last few drafts have been mediocre at best, bad at worst. How many impact players has A.J. drafted in the last 3 years?

You have a point about Buddy, the jury is still out with Cason, Matthews and English. Important draft this year for AJ, we shall see...

Cason is a solid starter. But 1st round picks should be studs.

It's a lil to early for that kind of talk.... AJ needs to hit big on this draft and maybe one big impact FA.

I would say LT, Gates will probably get into the HOF, Rivers will make a pretty good case over the next 3 seasons. Maybe one of the offensive linemen. If Vincent Jackson goes on the wagon......who knows?

Cason is a solid starter. But 1st round picks should be studs. Not sensational but above average and has an upside with good work ethic and was recognized for leadership at Arizona. Good value at the #20 spot. IF Chargers can secure a pass rusher, Corners instantly get better ;D

John Butler had already past away when Gates was signed.

And Kris Dielman was a UFA who was a DL who moved to the OL so we really got lucky with him being able to make the move I doubt that AJ knew he was going to move to the OL when he picked him up…. But who knows

Get rid of AJ, he has put together a team that did not get in the playoffs and the same will happen next year. Locker room has no leadership. Rivers can't carry the team. It will be a long 2 seasons....

It will be a long 2 seasons.... Right, because before AJ the team was making the playoffs consistently. AJ does a great job with UDFA's and late round picks, not sure why he's so good at it but it seems like that's where a lot of the quality players come from. As far as Nix being the secret to the success, we'll see how he does with the Bills, so far the Bills fans aren't impressed.
