Just funny as hell to see the polar opposite reaction to Pat Hill on the Bark Board compared to what a god the guy was to them half a dozen years ago: mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=164&f=1686In case it hasn't occurred to anybody else, since the Fresneckians come to Qualcomm to finish the 2011 regular season, we have a chance to bury the guy and nothing would give me greater pleasure than to see it happen.

Why don't you like Pat Hill? Not saying I do, just curious why you don't.

Hill's tenure has run its course. It's time for a new coach.

Why don't you like Pat Hill? Not saying I do, just curious why you don't. My opinion of the guy has greatly changed. I once really respected how he pulled himself up by his bootstraps. Unlike so many successful head coaches, he didn't have a family member to help him break into the profession so he got his start by being an assistant at Crespi HS in Encino, where he was forced to sleep in his car during the season because he didn't have a teaching job and they could only afford to pay him like $300 a month. I also think he did a great job rebuilding Fresno's program after Jim Sweeney stayed around a few years too long. Now I've just grown really tired of Hill's shtick. The "We'll play anybody, anywhere at any time" thing, the Goose Gossage 'stache, the courting of a Raiders-like gangsta mentality as a means of publicizing the program, etc. have become tired and annoying. Did Joe Paterno ever need a shtick for his program? I don't think so. If Hill was to bag the shtick and just get down to actual coaching, I would probably like him again. However, if you listen to guys like NTU who have met him, Hill now isn't close to the guy he once was and now has such a huge ego that he's never going to change and that's too bad.

Funny thread. How "we" on the SDSU board are so concerned about ousting Fresno's coach. While they are firing Hill, they need to lose the stupid green "V", honoring the central valley. It just reminds me of how that whole San Juaquin corridor stinks like cow dung when I see those helmets.
BTW: Drunkest city in America= Fresno Ca.

Drunkest city might be Fresno, but drunkest neighborhood is Hillcrest! I don't have a link either.

I have never met the man but from the history you just wrote I now have an even bigger respect for the man. He has done a great job with what he has. They should not get rid of him, he is a great recruiter and a great coach, what they need to do is provide him better support financially for the program. I don't think Fresno fans would feel they same way had they been in the MWC all this time. With Fresno we could have been AQ long time ago.

I also don't think the quote about Jim Sweeney is acccurate. He built the Fresno program and should always be remembered that way. It just could be that Hill has lost his fire and the financial hard times in the valley are hard to overcome. They won't find anyone better in my view.

bull$#!+, the guy makes over a mil a year. He gets plenty of financial support. He hasn't been able to win a watered down WAC and has gotten by feasting on that crap conference. Coming to a new conference isn't going to improve his coaching skills. I forsee a lot of 6-6 or 5-7 years in the MWC for CSU Fresneck unless they get rid of him.

He might not do better in the MWC, but he is as good as Fresno will get under current conditions in the program that Sweeney built. It may be he has run out of steam up there and when water starts flowing to the farm land up there and prosperity returns the money will come flowing back to that program. At that time they can look for a fresh face. It is not about his salary, but about the program.

If Fresneck fan is serious about being a power he needs to be gone yesterday. I personally hope he stays because that will be an easy conference W every year. Borges and Long will run gameplan circles around him and his staff...

Sweeney stayed too long. Trash 'Stache isn't or wasn't going to do better than they have done.

As to Hill, I checked and he has verbals for 2011 from two kids from Crespi. Coincidence? I think not. BTW, Randy Cross and some other long-time NFL players attended that school, which I believe still doesn't admit girls.

If Hill is such a crappy coach why would SDSU fans want him fired? I hope he stays there forever. SDSU does not need Fresno getting real good and taking recruits. We want them bad so we can take theirs. F**K fresno
