Byrd is really bad at passing You can add Pal and Butler into the equation, especially on a fast break or passes to the post.

Compton, Gwath and Majak will be nice Gwath and Majak are skinnier than Pal, they’re going to get pushed around in bigger games vs better teams for a couple seasons. Compton is another story. He’s put together. He’s intriguing. Hopefully he’ll be ready to go We need more physical studs on the front line like last season. EVERY returning player needs to model what Jaedon did this past off season. No one in the nation worked harder than Ledee. He’d do a hard, multi hour workouts. HARD workouts that most every coach and player would say “yeah, I’m working hard”. That’s good for the day, I work my tail off. That’s what 99% of guys do. But then Ledee was off each day to go do even more work. That’s what turned a good college player into an All American. How bad do our returning guys want it? We will see.

We can’t even run a 3 on 1 fast break. We need better players We're absolutely horrible at passing of the fast break. It blows my mind. You run/practice that all your life. I don't get it. Just bad decision after bad decision in the 2H.

in the last 20+ years, this has to be the ugliest aztec loss, totally dominated. but we can say they were the last mwc team in the tournament---bittersweet 16. Not even close..... 1) the Syracuse nightmare in the first round 2) '16 George Washington blowout in the NIT final four - it's one thing to get blownout giving a $#!+.... That team was a no show led by Shepard, Spencer, Kell, Allen, etc..... Uconn is/was head and shoulders better than us.....More size, more skill and more discipline! Kind of hard to overcome those obstacles!

There's only one other team who can compete with UCONN and that's Purdue.
The guys battled like men for boards and tried to be physical. It's tough when UCONN was taller and bigger at every single position. And it wasn't slightly bigger and taller either
This is the least talented Sweet Sixteen team on the Mesa but the toughest and by far most physical Sweet Sixteen squad. Gonna miss watching this team play

even tho' the aztecs were destroyed today, remember they are in the top 16 in the nation. next year with some real guards that can make 3's and some rebounders, top 8.

Much better outcome this season than I would have expected. We always struggle on offense, but the lack of rim protection and rebounding did us in this year. We need to create scoring chances in transition to be effective, and we couldn't manage that consistently this season.
We got beat by a far superior team tonight. No shame in that. Best team in the country by leaps and bounds. 5 starters for UCONN that average double digits, every team in the country wants that kind of balance. They always seem to get the best of us, but we'll get them sooner or later.
Will miss Butler the most. I know he got some grief from the folks here over the years, and he has his weakenesses, but he is an always on, full energy, bulldog who hit the most significant shot in the history of the program, and even if we ever win a national championship, I don't think you'll see a bigger, more clutch shot than that, ever. Thanks, Lamont.
I know it doesn't seem like it right now, but these are the good times. Everything we've been building over the past 20 years is paying off, albeit in a non P5 sort of way. Looking forward to next year, and beyond.

i fear next year is going to be rough for many Aztec fans that never suffered during the Emerald 8 Era or our not so long ago string of NIT invites.

We have to recruits some players that can rebound and some good size guards that can shoot threes. Not sure how good we will be next year just depends on the transfer portal. We could be worse. We could be much younger. We are more hindered than ever thanks to NIL. I hope that is not the case, and I have faith in Dutch. I hope he is also willing to reevaluate everything. Dan Hurley talked about that post game, how they kept having NCAAT disappointments. So they took a hard look at things and made changes. We don’t need major changes, just some tweaks in certain areas, offense and maybe recruiting.

Guard play is not good enough for Purdue, on the other hand UConn did not exactly win the battle with Ledee, so they are going to struggle with Edney, and they dont have the depth. If Purdue does make it, UConn will win easily.

Everybody take a deep breath and appreciate our players. Good season. Hang a banner. Back to back Sweet 16 appearances. Unthinkable a few years ago. Hell, unthinkable a month ago. People need to understand and accept who we currently are and enjoy the moment. Great tourney outcome with who we were this year.
