Fisher and Dutch built this program and were incredibly loyal. Sounds like Dave V will follow, again someone loyal to the program. We have been blessed. Not only that, but the kids we are bringing in a solid people too which makes it easy to root for them.

The day Fisher was hired I was living in Massachusetts and didn't really know much about college basketball. I had a friend there who had gone to UCONN a few years earlier. He said, "Wow, you guys got a good one." Little did I know how right he was.

Geez, that just reminds me that it was 25 years ago that I was a college freshman. It just reminds me that 25 years ago I was just a youth of 54. sigh And I was only 49! We're both still alive!!!!!

Old age is just a state of mind. Unfortunately, I can’t find my state nor my mind. Likewise. I really hate it when someone says "You're only as old as you feel." I feel a lot older than my chronological age. sigh So do I, my friend.

Two great hires in football Saint Don and Rocky Long. Two great hires in Basketball Fisher and Dutch. Big things that have changed the direction of this University all for the good. Four of the best hires by the Aztecs in the 60+ years I've been an Aztec. Hiring Coach Coryell almost definitely saved the entire football program. Otherwise I believe our football program would have gone the way of Long Beach State, L.A. State, UOP and others of our peers at the time. Hiring Coach Fisher along with Coach Dutcher has brought the basketball program to heights that I don't believe anyone even imagined possible, at least when they were sober. Never underestimate the power of an Aztecarita

I wonder how much the overall university has indirectly benefitted from that hire. Putting a basketball team on the map does a lot more for the school than just the athletic department

I believe it was AD Rick Bay who made the Fisher hire.
That one worked out OK!

My current age - I wasn't feeling young this morning until I read this Glad I could help.  You're a year younger than my son. Enjoy your youth, it doesn't last long. No, it sure doesn't. I hit 56 recently. 56 isn't old by any stretch of the imagination, but it's within sight of old. That's the part that is disturbing.

Thank you Coach Fisher for all the enjoyment you’ve given me. Very grateful.

Kinda like Sargeant pepper. 25 years ago today coach Fisher taught the team to play........ He fixed a hole and it's getting better all the time...hopefully when I'm 64 we'll still be going to sweet 16s...and I look forward to a day in the life when we win a natty Hopefully you and the team can get by with a little help from your friends, in the Show. As for the Dance, let’s come together and get back. Come on Aztecs, don’t let me down!

Hiring Fisher (and, by association, Dutcher) was the 2nd greatest hire in SDSU history. And if not for some guy named Coryell would be the greatest hire in school history.
Passing the torch to Dutcher was a no brainer (so even I would have been qualified to make that decision), but it was still a great hire. Even better than promoting Claude Gilbert, which was another great hire!

I was at the first press conference introducing Fisher as a student intern for the SID.
I still remember one of the players scoffing when Fisher said they're going to win

I’d be interested in seeing it.
