After the Aztec-Yale game, we wandered into the Davenport Hotel to grab a post-game brew -- it was Sunday night around 10 p.m. and Spokane rolls up their sidewalks at 8 p.m. sharp on Sundays (Mon. through Thurs., too.) The bar was filled with Yalies. There was a ballroom across the hall festooned with blue-and-white balloons that looked like the aftermath of a political candidate on election night who'd lost in a landslide. The Yale players were relaxing in a lounge off the lobby and looked fairly chill. They were scheduled on a charter flight the following morning. As we sidled up to the bar in our SDSU gear, we thought we'd be the proverbial fart in a spacesuit. But several Yalies came up to us and started chatting. Good-natured folk. Then Chris Dudley walked up -- 6'11", Torrey Pines high, Yale, 16 seasons in the NBA. Turns out he's good friends with my buddy. We bought him a beer and started chatting about the game. One of his Yale teammates joined in. Their take on the game boiled down to this: Holy cr@p, we knew LeDee was good, but that was ridiculous. And, God, that 5'10" guard of yours absolutely killed us. Coaches didn't game plan for him. We had no answer for that. Also, we came out flat. We had a lot of time to prepare for Auburn and our guys came out and were ready for the challenge. When SDSU came out and hit us with a 10-0 haymaker, we just kind of wilted. Our guys were definitely intimidated by SDSU's size and speed. As for UConn, whom they know very well, if LeDee and Trammell/Butler play well, and you can hit some outside shots, you definitely have a puncher's chance. Meanwhile, I reassured the Yale fans and former players with: "Don't worry. All the guys on the Yale roster will be OK. They'll all get a degree from Yale and jobs at Goldman Sachs, along with some good stories to tell about their time in the NCAA Tournament." They all got a chuckle out of that. Probably because its true.

The Yale coach is old school class and damn good coach and been HC since 1999. Watched him during game on tv, and he was cool, calm and collected. Rare in these days, when coaches loose their minds over everything. He has a career winning record and probably could of moved on many times. He is a great role model and leader of young people,

The cream rises to the top.

Probably because its true. You'd think they'd have been aware of/game plan for DT after he won regional MVP last year. Then again, it seemed half the posters on this board forgot as well this season with countless dumbass ripping on him.
