laprensa.org/sdsu-hides-proposal-free-sports-arena-mission-valleyThe University and the city will need to answer some questions. I think anywhere but Viejas for Basketball would be problematic and how do you rationalize two arenas? How do you add a n arena and move out the research and classroom space they sold the citizenry? The only benefit to State would be eliminating the competition of a second arena. This will be in the news cycle as housing advocates will cry foul as they want more residential and no arena.

Not sure it fits the site with no parking and at the expense of housing, class rooms, and all the RnD? Does SDSU get to use facilities? Not sure how that effects Viejas? Wouldn't have to pay to practice n play there. Lots of questions??

Had the opportunity to attend a UT game at the Moody Center last year, can definitely say that it's a top-tier college arena.
I don't think SDSU will be moving from Viejas any time soon, but the dated aspect of the arena is noted by the cramped indoor concourse, bathroom wait times, existence of the back-less bleacher seats, lack of suites/lounges/premium areas, etc.
Whenever the Midway arena gets built, I really hope SDSU can play at least 1 game a season at the new arena, maybe against UCSD/USD?

Actually they're lying about San Diego State's actions. How is SDSU hiding the proposal or keeping it under wraps when the UT published an article about it two years ago. SDSU looked at it and rejected it. End of story.

They have reported on at least a 2-year-old story. Less than quality journalism here.

Maybe the SDSU brass went to Austin to get ideas to use in a remodel of Viejas Arena? When the trip was taken, Viejas Arena was 25 years old, and there have been ongoing discussions involving changes to Viejas--adding suites, etc. La Prensa just trying to be somewhat relevant. Dusting off a 2 year-old story doesn't do that.

This is a ridiculous idea. Lets see we currently get all the revenue from our own arena. The new arena we wouldn't get all the revenue doesn't make any ssense. Plus where do you put all the new classrooms and research facilities. A no starter for SDSU.
