Seems like former NBA stars are having a rough go coaching at the college level. Stackhouse gone, Pat Ewing gone, Howard gone, and Penny has to be on thin ice in Memphis. Then add in the fact that the previous Michigan coach Beilein didn't last a year in the NBA and it makes that saying about College guys being college guys and pro guys being pro guys ring even more true. Juwan probably has an NBA assistant job somewhere if he wants it, but who knows what comes next now a days.

I'm sure UCLA would love to see anybody take Cronin off their hands, they didn't even win half of their games!

Michigan should go after the UConn coach. No matter how much dough he's getting there, Michigan has more.

TJ Otzelberger Nate Oats Those are the front runners in that order. Oats I totally agree with. But I'd also add DeVries. LOL @ Cronin. Some very happy Bruin-boosters seeing that rumor.

as the former HC at UCLA football showed - being the HC at UCLA is not the best position to be in - they have a lot of money situations that can drive coaches away or even willing to become an assistant at a BIG school rather then HC at UCLA
So would guess that the Basketball HC at UCLA could be looking for a new school if so who might want it

After the way Steve Fisher was treated by UM, I'd find it hard to believe that we'll see Brian Dutcher returning to Ann Arbor anytime in his lifetime - unless it's for some kind of Fab Five Celebration.

I love how they just throw a bunch of random names up there. Dutcher and Oats just signed contract extensions. Several of those other guys listed are enjoying their FIRST big seasons. Otzelberger is probably the best coach on the list.
The UCLA thing cracks me up. Cronin has, overall, done a great job there. They've had one down season, and finished pretty well, yet the fan base wants to get rid of him yesterday.

The Cronin to Michigan was probably started by a ffUCLA booster with the hope of getting them interested. 😉 It is the ole reverse psychology thing.

There is 10 million reason Dutcher doesn't leave. That what the buyout would be for Michigan.

Michigan should go after the UConn coach. No matter how much dough he's getting there, Michigan has more. I don't like Danny Hurley, he is an arrogant little guy. But no doubt he can coach, especially if he has a fat NIL budget to "recruit".

I doubt Michigan even teaches out to Dutch. He is on the older side at 65 and just signed a contract extension.
I think the dude at uconn is the #1 candidate.

Dutch is NOT going anywhere, he will stay in SD. Dutch signed his extension a few weeks ago and I know he knew Howard was gone. Interesting that I heard Leitner interview Acker after yesterday’s game saying to him that a head coaching position is well deserved & at a bigger place than where Acker was a HC before. Acker was the HC at West LA College, before he became an an assistant at U of Hawaii. Acker may get HC job at a smaller school, a Big West School or WCC or Fresno State? Fresno probably wouldn’t take another SDSU assistant again seeing how Hutson didn’t work out for them.
