Dutch's phone and email will be lighting up... lots of folks will have an interest in the job. I'd guess that once the Aztecs' turney run ends, Dutch will turn his attention to grading out all of the best candidates and interview finalists -- some might be former Aztec coaches (for which familiarity will help them) and others won't (sometimes bringing in outside/new ideas can be a big help).
In Dutch I Trust to make a terrific hire. But I don't automatically assume it will be Hutson, or Shelton, or Bland, or Scholl. Could be, but I seriously doubt it will be a 'done deal' without consideration of what's very likely to be a long, excellent list of external candidates.

I wouldn’t just settle on Hutson or Shelton. With the tournament success of the last two years we should have our pick of great up and coming assistants to choose from.

Here’s my prediction. Acker will hire Bland and Hutson. If you didn’t notice Enfield’s name started circulating in the coaching searches this year. You know his people started it this year for him to move on in the next few.
Acker and Hutson will get LBSU into the tournament and that year Enfield will move on. They’ll replace him at USC and Bland will takeover as HC at LBSU.

Though I'd prefer the announcement post tourney run it's understandable with the portal open you have to be able to hit the ground running to build a team. Happy for him, seems he's been a major key in player development.
Does anyone know if he would maintain his duties with SDSU until end of March Madness? We need all the continuity we can get for our upcoming game.
Also, I think this indicates Dave Velasquez might be going for the Dutcher roadmap to takeover SDSU. Of course, money talks...

Reports say (or maybe they should still be called rumors at this point) that Enfield is leaving USC to take over SMU, and it'll be announced in the next couple days. All due respect to guys like Acker, Hutson, etc., but I think USC has to aim significantly higher for their hire if Enfield were to leave now or in the future. Boyle at Colorado, Muss at Arkansas and Bryce Drew from Grand Canyon are all names that make sense to my uninformed mind.

I don’t want Huston. SDSU needs a offense coach. Huston could take Scholl spot.

I am 💯 that Muss is not happy at Arkansas… he doesn’t feel the boosters are supporting the program and specifically him…

That makes sense, a step down… SMU are going to the ACC and he will make more money. So I don’t know that is a step down.

That makes sense, a step down… Enfield - 11 years - 220 and 146 or 60% with 5 tournaments and four total wins…
