From Rivals basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/emptying-the-notebook-from-the-hoophall-west-invitationalSan Diego State signee Thokbor Majak showed fluidity and flashes of greatness when it came to rim protection in Friday’s opening game. The 7-foot South Sudan native feels like an ideal redshirt candidate due to the fact that he needs to add significant weight and become a much more reliable offensive weapon. That said, he moves extremely fluidly for his size and is capable of being an absolute nightmare on the defensive end, where he blocked a handful of shots for Canyon International Academy on Friday. The impact Majak is capable of having as a defender should be enough to allow him to make some semblance of impact for the Aztecs down the road. Majak, who has been in the states for roughly two years, committed to SDSU in mid October and has the dexterity and length to make a difference on the boards as he beefs up, but his shot-blocking and ability to get up and down quickly despite his 7-foot frame are what pop off the page at this point. There’s intriguing upside at work inside Majak, as he moves a lot better than most prospects with his build and is capable of staying in front of a lot of opponents on the perimeter should he be drawn out or caught in a switch.

are there any updates on his play this year ? It’s hard to find anything on him but the clips and box scores I’ve found don’t show him as a key player on his team. He seems like a kid who you hope after a redshirt year and a couple other years of being in the system can be a center off the bench his final two years.

Well, having a guy like Shay is still helpful, it really helps our team prepare better when you have a legit shot blocker on the scout team.

You can go to YouTube and watch games/highlights of Canyon International Academy. You can also go here and check box scores. nikeeyblscholastic.com/calendar.aspx?path=mbballJust from my brief time spent doing those, I’d say he averages 10-15 minutes a game, maybe scores around 3 points a game, probably 3 rebounds a game and he didn’t register for blocks per game in the stats portion of the website where 0.7 was the lowest.

Hope he and Magoon follow whatever weightlifting-sculpting program LeDee used. I know a lot of it was pure DNA but some of it was just because he worked on things so damn hard and long.

He is a third year player who plays zero minutes. He is taking one of 13 scholarships that we could sorely use on a contributing player. His upside is zero.

Yeah he may be a teriffic kid but I wonder if it is time for Dutch to have a conversation with him ? It depends on the kid. I still can't believe Cade stayed when he could have gone somewhere else this year, gotten a scholarship and played significant minutes. Demarshay may feel the same but I hope fir his own sake, he goes somewhere he can play and participate more.
