Prospects are currency. At least to AJ. I'd be extremely surprised if Lesko is traded. Anything is possible, but internally, he's a "dude." Salas is basically not being moved for anything.

I get the feeling that this is more reputation than fact-based. How many times, outside of the Soto deal, has Preller traded away the top of the farm? Most of the trades have been mid-tier or backend top ten guys.

Get the rest of the MLB GMs together and see what they say. I'm not going to guess what they'd say. Anything else is speculation.

But it doesn't mean he won't. It pretty much does in this case. They fielded calls on all three guys at the deadline. If you weren't doing it then, I have a hard time seeing it done in the offseason when you're looking for a new manager.

Meanwhile, the person responsible for the hiring of the last 3 (and from your last comment, probably 4) managers has carte blanche to run the club as he sees fit--regardless of the fact we have the 3rd highest payroll in baseball, have 1 full-season playoff appearance in their last 9 seasons, and will be lucky to achieve a .500 record this season with that 3rd highest payroll. Melvin is easy to blame, but he's not the main issue.

Best outing of his professional career last night after the promotion - Five shutout innings, allowed just one hit and struck out nine.
