How many years is he eligible for? Can he play right away?

He should try not to add any weight---might slow him down.

Can he put on 15-20 pounds (of mostly muscle) between now and November? His game is more Jalen McD than Jaedon LeDee

2022-23 Campbell: Started all 32 games, Averaged 12.3 PPG, 6.9 RPG, and shot 58% from the floor, and 73% from the line. Named to Big South All-Championship team. Scored in double figures 23 times with seven double-doubles. 2021-22 Jax State: 28 games with 1 start, Averaged 2.9 PPG and 2.5 RPG in 11.5 minutes while shooting 51% overall 2020-21 Jax State: 27 games and made 21 starts, Averaged 5.2 PPG and 4.4 RPG in 24.4 minutes while shooting 41% overall JUCO: 16 games in 2019-20 at Clarendon (Texas). Averaged 10.3 PPG, 5.6 RPG, shot 59% overall and 55% (21-38) from 3-point range… Helped Clarendon to top-10 NJCAA ranking.
In the press, listed as a Grad Transfer, Verbal Commits as a Sophomore status, assumes 2 years left?

Per Zeigler he has played 4 years this will be be his Super Senior Season
He and AG have been acquaintances for years and their parents worked together
He cam for a visit and there was a perefect fit with coaches , players and the feel of the area
he describes himself as a Multi Position Player or No position - does whatever team needs - can do a variety of things on both offense and defense
Can we also change Post to Jay Pal Commits

Not a good commitment - a great one. Extremely talented defender that fits our system perfectly.

A fantastic pickup IMO. Long, athletic, versatile…this is the kind of guy that built this program. I get that people think we should have our pick of the litter based on a monster post season run, but money talks, and it’s a strange ass world out there. We’re a program that’s done more with less, and I think that’s going to continue to be the case. We’re not UCLA, we’re not Arizona, we’re a Cal State school on a budget, and we outkick our coverage nearly every year. Jalen 2.0? Yes, please. I’m Dutch I trust.

as many have pointed out he has played 4 years( think they count the JC year ) - similar to others he gets 1 additional season ( the Covid Super Senior Year ) not 2 years - unless he had a season where he was injured and only played a very limited amount under 30% of the games

He’s played 4 years already though. 1 in JUCO, 2 at Jacksonville, and 1 at Campbell. So even counting the extra COVID year it’s just 1 left.

And played 25+ games in all 3 D1 years, so no medical hardship. The only way he has 2 more years is if he didn't play at the JC or missed the majority of that season. To lazy to look it up. The fact Zeigler said it'll be his super senior year says it all. A 1-year thing is probably preferred, given they see Saunders filling that role in '25. Pal is just a bridge to where Saunders only needs to play 15+ minutes not 25+ before stepping into the bigger role.

I am pretty excited about Jay Pal, he had a long journey to get to SDSU. Omaha Central High School (NB) > Prepped at The Skills Factory ATL (GA) > Clarendon College (TX) Juco > Jacksonville State (AL) ASUN > Campbell (NC) Big South > San Diego State (MWC).
This is a good listen, 40 minutes, take your time.

It’s a huge step up In competition. He basically played C for Campbell last year after their big forward got hurt. But I’m not sure he beats out Saunders as starting forward, but he definitely provides needed size and depth off the bench. Hopefully he can avg 6 and 4 with a block and a steal per game. Rebound, defend and provide energy.

As we have seen in the past who starts is not as important as who is there at crunch time or do the guys share time as they did last season
In addition until the coaches have all the guys together to see what combinations work out the best .

Also, it seems only 5 players at one time are on the court, and the ones who are deemed better by the coaches are worthy to play more minutes at the most important times of the game. Basketball is a game of runs and injuries may occur. Aztec colors are red and black. The basketball season runs approximately from the fall to early spring.
