Opening day is tomorrow, what do you think?
My predictions are as follows:
1). The numerous rule changes will lead to an explosion of runs.
MLB is about to become like college baseball, with 16-12 scores being the norm. The attempts to quicken the pace of the game will backfire as quicker pitches will lead to more offense and more lengthy 5 run innings….and THAT will give us those 3.5 hour marathons MLB doesn’t want. Remember, whenever the league tinkers with the game (higher mound, tighter baseball) there is always a statistical shift. Remember the year of the HR 2019 when the Twins smacked 307 HRs? Yankees 306?
2). The stolen base will be back.
Why not? Catchers and pitchers will now be helpless in preventing faster runners from taking extra bases. The larger bases will also help. The days of Lou Brock, Maurice Wills, Ron Leflure, Tim Raines, Vince Coleman and Ricky Henderson stealing 60+ bases will be back with a bullet. Even Manny Machado could steal 20+ this year, he can scoot if he wants to.
3). Bullpens will be the key to success.
Actually, bullpen depth. The days of the complete game shutout are probably over for now. Starters will probably only go 3-5 innings, so bullpens are going to be taxed. That was Tingler’s downfall, he overused his bullpen and by the end of the season they had nothing left as The Padres lost 18 of the final 21 games in 2021. The manager who allocates the extra roster spot to the bullpen may have an advantage at the end of the season.
4). 6 man rotations.
Hardly a secret, but 6 man rotations are going to be part of the game. We might have seen our last 20 game winner for a while in Kyle Wright.
Just my opinions, please opine if you wish.

I think you're missing one very key ingredient here: The baseball. Offense will still be suppressed if the powers that be continue to tinker with the ball and use multiple iterations of the ball. I do think we'll see more stolen bases with the disengagement rule being in effect.

However, one of the great joys of baseball is it’s unpredictable AND whenever the commish tries to accomplish something with a rule change, the end results never work out the way they intend things to happen. Meaning, if the ball becomes less jumpy, the hitters will figure something out and negate the advantage. Averages are going to be up with no more shift, we may see 15-30 .300 hitters instead of 10, with the batting champion hitting .350 or higher.

I don't think the shift will lead to appreciably higher BABIP numbers, but we'll see.

Yeah, I think the shift is going to make a difference for a lot of guys, but you still have to get the timely hits with runners in scoring position.

I think the new scheduling rules are going to make things interesting down the stretch. It won't be like any teams are totally clueless about any of the other teams…

I say we win 96 games, and win the division by 3 games over the Dodgers.

More back-picking this year? There should be plenty of material for nit-picking…
