I don't think that one has to be ardently anti-Obama to realize that our foreign policy with respect to North Korea is aimless and ineffective. But that policy is not just ineffective. It is counterproductive. This problem is a thorny one to be sure. Nevertheless, the degree of difficulty of a foreign policy problem is not reason to give an ineffective administration a pass. www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2010/05/26/pyongyangd_again_105732.htmlAzWm

The problem of the Korean Peninsula is complex for sure and far more dangerous than anyone wants to think. This is time for courageous and clear thinking leadership from the United States. That has not been evident from the Obama Administration to date and the chances of it emerging do not look to bright from where I sit. This combined with all the other issues facing the United States seem to be beyond the capabilities and vision of this administration. I hope that we will see the beginning of the end for these liberals in November if it has not already begun with the last few special elections.

I had a real good laugh when I read the author's comment regarding Bush's "Legacy". ;D As to North Korea. The author admitted that Bush didn't have a clue either regarding that country so why assume that Obama is suddenly going to find the right carrot or stick? The only people that have any influence over the North Koreans are the Chinese so we've got to deal with them. The real diplomacy will be in getting them, the Chinese, to not veto any security council resolution regarding punishing the NK. So we'll just have to see. I don't hold out much hope though. It will be interesting to see what happens next. I wouldn't put anything past ol Kim at this point. Remember that the SK capitol is only 25 miles from the DMZ.

In the spirit of bipartisanship ( ) I will try not to do a Hannity on Barack Obama when discussing this difficult issue. On the other hand, it is not necesarilly partisan to point out shortcomings in an administration's foreign policy. I agree that China is the key to dealing with N. Korea. Can we (principally Hilary Clinton) convince the Chinese that their continued support of the Mad Dwarf works against their interests? That remains an open question. Remember, it was our current Chief Executive who made a big deal of accusing G.W. Bush of shooting first and, maybe at some future date, waking up the Sec. of State to send an official note or something. Well, it's up to team Obama to show us all how real pros do it. My guess is that we (meaning our govt.) have no clue as to what we should do and are praying that somehow things will turn out okay. One thing is clear. The Dwarf has decided that his craziness works to his advantage. Continually rewarding that craziness, which is what the rest of the world has done for a long time, does not represent a plan for success. It seems to me that the chances of a war on the Korean Peninsula are about one in four. Maybe higher. Not a pleasant thought. AzWm
