Insinuation? Hardly. But nice try. I don't need any condescending congrats, either. You just make things confusing from time to time. Typo? Ha!!! That's what you thought at the time. No typo. News flash. Ryan can be wrong from time to time. Now, go hug your ego. Sheesh. It's not what I thought at the time. It was a mistake. He's from Venezuela, grew up in Caracas. He was born in Florida, though. His MILB profile says "Caracas, Venezuela." If you weren't insinuating he wasn't 16, then you're in the wrong thread, as I said earlier. On another note, I'm trying to dig through archives to see if he would be the youngest player in Cal League history if he opens with Elsinore. You'll probably find the youngest player in the history of the Cal League, but Salas won't beat Bill Sarni, who was 15 when he caught 33 games for the LA Angels of the PCL in 1943. He eventually spent 5 seasons in MLB.

The double yesterday came off Ian Clarkin, former Madison High pitcher who was drafted 33rd overall years ago.

True. But he won't be there to start the season. Was always the plan, I was told. He'll move plenty fast.

No big deal, just hitting a triple off one of the best young arms in the majors who throws 98-99.
This kid is built differently.

It's not just Acee saying that. EDIT--Acee never actually mentioned Salas by name. Then again, it only takes one person to say something, and others picking it up and running with it.

Yeah, it was worded "a 16 year-old shortstop..." in a trade for Grandal (obviously referencing the Tatis Jr trade).

Salas has been battling a sore shoulder, but I think he'll be back in a few days.

Salas has been battling a sore shoulder, but I think he'll be back in a few days. And he is indeed back. Hit a home run tonight, walked, stole a base and scored a run in extended spring training. Clock is ticking on where he gets assigned. Complex league starts in about ten days.

Kiley McDaniel's new top 50 came out this morning. Salas is 28th. Merrill is 9th. Farm's in good shape.

Sure hope so. With Kim out now, the Padres have a bonafide infield problem.

Salas will become the first 16 year old since 2013 to get a full-season game under his belt. Batting second tonight.
