They trade a lot of prospects before they can get up to the big league level in lieu of more established talent, too. Right. Eventually the farm system is going to get a “not ready for prime time” stigma, devaluating the entire system. I’m certain this isn’t unique to the Padres, but many of their guys get a call up, go 3-22 and get sent back to the thin air of El Paso to wonder what happened during their brief cup of coffee. Definitely happens to every single team in the league. Most guys come up and struggle - Sure bets like Kelenic and Gavin Lux. Guys like Fernando are the major exception, not the norm.

Ruiz with not just one but two rookie mistakes tonight. When you get the opportunity to play, this really isn't how you want to show off your game …

Lindor pushed him off the bag 2. Am I the only one that noticed how much dirt was pushed up against the first base facing side of second base - making it much more difficult for the foot to catch on the bag? It was literally pushed up against the bag like a ramp, making it more difficult to catch the bag with your toes - you need to catch the lip of the bag. Was the ump not brushing the dirt away from the sides of second base? I think Kim's slide into second on Ruiz's groundout preceding the steal attempt might have been what caused it.

The guy is just too fast.

Pushed off or slid off, he failed to maintain contact. It's Big League Baseball … players are going to find an edge wherever they can. Ruiz needs to learn these things. Yeah, it sucks that he might've been pushed off, but a review found no issues. It really looked to me like he overslid the bag, tried mightily to dig his toe in, and that's when it all went to $#!+.

Nothing a review can do. There's no rule in the rulebook. Lindor has done it previously.
