Padres currently have five regulars (50+ PA's) hitting under .200 at Petco:
Nola Grisham Profar Kim Cronenworth
Worth noting that all have below league average BABIP numbers, but a lot of soft contact/popups is submarining these averages. Padres have historically struggled at home to hit since Petco opened. Only Hosmer and Machado are really producing at home this season, both with very high BABIP figures.

Yes, and just think how much better we'll be once they get back on track, hopefully. Or, a couple of those guy's will make up for a Hosmer, or someone else, when they start to go back down to earth. It gives me hope that we'll be ok, if/when others go into a significant slump, and hopefully, simultaneously they start hitting better, especially at home. One can hope.

There's something wrong with Grisham. He's got nuthin' this season. Not even hitting his high school weight.

is it Petco or is it the balls supplied to Petco? Likely both, but the Padres have never hit well at home.

The Padres, since Petco Park opened, have only hit better at home than on the road 4 times, and it was in 4 consecutive seasons--2014 (.231/.222), 2015 (.247/.239), 2016 (.242/.229), and 2017 (.235/.233).

Can't ever forget Phil Nevin's famous call out and tantrum from second base of Padres GM Kevin Towers after hitting a ball Nevin later said would've been a home run anywhere else. (Ryan Klesko did the same thing) The dimensions have since been changed, but well hit balls continue to die before making it out of Petco … and that's just the balls to the power alleys. Why the rest of the playing field remains a battlefield for the Padres is still a big question mark. They can't add more square feet to the baseball field. Could it be the slightly rotated (to the north) field of play? Is their magnetic field thrown off that much?

Over the years I’ve called Petco “The Hitters Graveyard”, even after moving in the fences it is still a tough place to hit.
