I think the Aztecs got the best of the three in Micah Parrish over Lucas or Williams. Better in both Heart and Talent. Team mindset vs Self. I think if we were only concerned with 2023 Lucas or Williams may have had the higher floor for this season, but long term I think Parrish has the highest ceiling. And it's not like we needed a major contributor right now.

Not Aztec portal related but CSU just added Josiah Strong out of Illinois St. 6'6 W/G who excels from deep. Being a 4th year player from a decent mid major conference who was a starter playing big minutes, I'd assume he wouldn't go somewhere he didn't expect to play a lot.
Wonder if this is a bigger sign Roddy is gone?

Yes Lucas was a proven Three Point Shooter from a PAC school - so more likely a known commodity - think he has it is 1 or 2 years with the intention of wanting to get to the NBA as soon as possible . Wants a team where he is one of the major scorers this season . Not sure about his defense
Rudi did well in his conference but also wants to be a player that gets to shoot often in a fast moving offense . Not sure if he is a 1 or 2 year player and his defense .
Micha came here noted for defense first - do not know if when he was here if he worked out with the coaches and players to actually get an idea of his offense . Has 3 years . Was willing to commit quickly
Per Zeigler Aztecs and BYU may try to restart a home and away series - so we could see him in person
We know Nevada will be playing the Aztecs this season
CSU - did lose some players so would expect them to try to add additional players the best they can - think they have scholarships even if Roddy does come back

Listened to interviews with Ziegler or Dutch? Checked out his metrics? I highly suggest you do. We stole 2 excellent transfers from elite P6 teams who were pursuing them hard. We found the perfect fits for our needs.Â

The point is Lucas thinks he is an NBA talent and wants the PT and ball to show it . He had the opportunity to sign with SDSU but wants to be the star at Nevada
Yes there are metrics and film clips about Micah and D.T . But IMO seeing him play against your own players during a visit also has a lot of merit . Both on offense and defense
Would also add that it is important to especially look at the stats they had against P6 or maybe MW teams .
Think both players will be solid contributors for the Aztecs but prefer to see how they do on both ends of the court when the Practices begin

Random note, something like 55% guys who enter the transfer portal don't get another offer.
What's that saying "a bird on the hand, is worth two in the bush."
Is it better to stick with what you have than risk it for something greater.

FWIW, about half already have committed to other schools this year and at least half of the remaining ones would be expected to do the same, if they don't pull out & go pro. Last year nearly 91% of those in the portal committed elsewhere per Verbal Commits (1564/1723).

Is there anyone still available in the transfer portal that we can add now that CBM is gone? Or a Matt Mitchell late bloomer type that fell through the cracks?

Think Bates just announced the other day he was going to transfer to a lesser known school in the state of Michigan closer to his home but it was not a P6 school
Coaching staff is always looking for possible players IF a real quality one would pop up in the AAU circuit
Aztecs have 12 scholarship players so IF something develops they can use it but there is no emergency -

Great point made by Coug
Diabate is hoping to apply for a waiver to play this season - if granted he knows the system and could provide some assistance down low - place where experience could be needed

He gives us great experience and depth, and that is valuable in case of injuries, as well as in tournaments. Not to mention, I wonder how much he plays with the scout team to help everyone else prepare. If he doesn't get another year, I wouldn't mind giving a schollie to Alger. I really hope that he gets his shot to prove himself this year with CBM out of the picture. Kid's got a lot of talent.

In talking with Nate he made it sound like it was a dine deal. Diabate isn't around this summer apparently.
