Most of the QB's who are leaving P5 schools - are very likely to see if there is an offer from a P5 school but not one that is likely to recruit over them again - would guess that someone has a list of those schools
Then they are going to look at schools that have a tradition of having the QB be the focal point in the offense . You may not have to be a running QB but able to make good decisions .
Is the school looking for a 1 hit / year wonder or have at least 2 years ?
Would guess that there will be additional QB's and other positions as the Bowl games get played
The leverage lies with the QB so the more homework they do in making their decision works the best for them
Q for those who understand the system - Sears QB from USC was in Portal - thought "agreed " to join the Aztecs then redecided and left - ultimately signed with BSU - Aztecs I thought had to hold his scholarship until he signed with another school ? Can you explain how the system works

Watched him play a lot his senior yet at LJCD. He was an outstanding dual threat QB back then, with a strong arm - a man amongst boys. By all accounts, a solid kid too. He was thrown to the fire his true freshman year at Oregon when Justin Herbert went down with an injury. I'm sure that shook his confidence a bit. The couple of games I saw him play on TV for VT, he looked quite good. Fun Fact: His favorite WR target in HS was an underclassman named Anthony Bland (Tony's son) Fun Fact 2: His QB mentor since 4th grade was Akili Smith - which might explain why he went to Oregon instead of SDSU out of HS

He is considered a Grad Transfer - any date on when he graduates ? and how many years he has remaining ?
In related articles he was thinking of playing in his Bowl Game but when he saw how quickly QB's were coming off the board - he announced he was going to transfer but would play - the coaches told him it would be better if he didn't play
There is also talk Slovis( USC ) might go to Pitt ?
Martinez possibly to one of the Kansas schools ?
Rumors galore

Haskell Mayden Crum Liu BB and either or both of Johnson and Brookshire as both can come back as Super Seniors.

I heard Brady in an interview say Lucas and Brookshire will not be coming back. I also heard that same interview and Hoke sounded very certain that Johnson and Brookshire would be moving on.

Completion % is misleading, YPA is much more relevant and Braxton’s is a lot higher than Lucas’s. He’d be good competition for Haskell in the offseason, some people in here have pie in the sky ideas about the kind of QB transfer we can land. Also look at this throw, no chance in the world Lucas could make this throw. Haven’t had this kind of arm talent since Lindley. Would gladly take him.

The other thing to consider about this year is since the Notre Dame game early in the season he was playing with an injured shoulder.
After watching more film he is a lot faster than Brookshire or Johnson and has a much stronger arm. He's as fast as a RB. I think he'd be great in our offense.

Story per some sources ?
Braxton was going to play in their Bowl game then announce he was going to enter in the Portal after the Bowl game. Then he observed that numerous QB's were in the Portal and starting to sign . So he thought he needed to get his name out there so schools would know he was transferring . So he put his name in the Portal . His coaches told him that since he did that he would not be playing for them in their Bowl Game .
As we have seen Numerous QB's are in the Portal and Numerous players especially the better ones are signing with other schools .
Have little doubt that the Aztecs have told him they are interested in him .
But he has all the leverage on what schools he has any interest in playing for so would guess he is putting together a list of those he is interested in .
Does he want another P5 school or head toward home ? Is the major decision . Does he Believe the Aztecs would be a team that has the QB as the focal point in the offense and its OC ?

I’m predicting he’s coming to SDSU. He liked a tweet about the new stadium opening up next year.

With Coach Heck opening up the offense in the Frisco Bowl with the highest passing yards all season (and showcasing our WR corps), that should entice him even more.
We will see.
Oldie Out

Do you guys actually think he'll sling it the moment he comes here? That's fantasy. Regardless of his arm he has to learn our system first. Brookshire and Johnson are prime examples. Now they're graduating and this guy will probably do the same without showing us his best.

If he comes for the Spring semester, I think he absolutely would compete for the starting job, quite possibly being the favorite.

Some of Braxton's stats from this season VA Tech was 6-6
He had 142 completions on 255 throws- 57% and about 8 yards per completion -
so maybe 21 throws a game and 12 completions
14 TD's and 4 Int's -
also had some yardage running and a few TD's running
What interest would he get from P5 schools or G5 schools that like to throw the ball ? That would be the major question
He does have some valuable experience so should be interesting to see what offers he gets
Timing - as pointed out would guess that he would want to sign with a school for the January semester - so he can participate in spring Practice no matter where he goes .
Not sure what the date would be for SDSU Grad School ? or other schools
Think he has 2 years to play ?
