At the risk of being accused of partisanship, I have to observe that it seems to me that the current administration is terribly reluctant to acknowledge that we are in a war. They have all sorts of reasons why using that term is counterproductive. I just can't buy them. If we are in a war, even though it is a kind we are not used to, it does no good to deny that it exists in the hope that by so doing the threat will be less. Also, if we are in a war, we had better understand its nature and what it will take to win. This war is not one that will be won in four or five years. Maybe it will not be won for a generation or more. If that's the case, it makes sense to examine how another nation faced up to such a conflict. online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704370704575228560391119920.htmlAzWm
