Could China believe that now is the time to strike?

Gordon Chang has written a book called The Coming Collapse of China. I haven't read it yet, but it's title seems appropriate in the light of this article. Sometimes people think their only chance to survive is to strike before it's too late. Hope that's not the case here, but it is worth thinking about.

The author presents good historical background.
